Receive controlled substances from the shift Supervisory Nurse and is responsible for all aspects of the storage and distribution of these medications; ensure proper and safe placement and use of medications stored in medication cart, stock medication cupboards, medication room refrigerator and narcotic cabinets. Document as applicable in the care plans, Nursing Notes, Medical Administration Records, Treatment Records and other required records. Monitor resident care standards during performance of duties, and encourage that rights of residents and preferences in care and treatment are respected. Registered Nurse (RN) Training and work experience in a geriatric setting preferred. Ability to supervise and work well with other personnel required. Shifts are primarily 12 hours and will be assigned in the OB Emergency Department at both hospitals and Labor & Delivery (WBUH only). Shifts will primarily be midnights, other shifts as need, and will include weekends. The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM)-II is an advanced practice nurse who provides full scope midwifery care. The CNM provides care to the patient which is delivered during the antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum periods. The CNM also provides care to the gynecologic patient in the clinic/office setting. High risk patients are cared for in consultation and collaboration with the medical team. The practice setting for the CNM-II will be in the Outpatient Clinic, contractually with Obstetrician's offices, the Natural Birth Center, the Family Birth Center Triage and LDRs and the Post Partum unit with the focus on enhancement of clinical care, patient satisfaction, and safety. Clinical care may include first assisting in OB surgical cases. Essential Functions Clinical Practice: The CNM provides clinical services and management of mothers and babies as defined in the standing orders, policies, procedures and protocols for the CNM. Performs physical exams, collects and documents data, manages labor and spontaneous delivery, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, and prescribes appropriate interventions and medications. Formulates and implements prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn and inter-conceptional care as defined by midwifery scope of practice. Communication/Consultation: Role models advanced practice professional nursing through conduct, appearance, communication, mutual respect, leadership, ethical decision-making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Job Summary The Certified Surgical Technologist organizes, directs, and performs activities related to instrumentation, sterilization, and supplies that are utilized for patient care in the operating room Job Specific Responsibilities Daily assignments may include but are not limited to: • Prepare the operating room for incoming surgeries • Assisting surgeon in the operating room • Inventory surgical instrumentation and supplies prior to an operation • Recount surgical instruments and supplies at the end of an operation • Sterilize equipment and stock up on necessary supplies • All other assigned duties related to attending the operating room Education and Experience • High School Diploma or GED • Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program • 1 year of Heart Training Preferred Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations • Basic Life Skills Certification (BLS); must obtain within the first 30 days of hire into the role • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery- Certified (TS-C) of Certified First Assistant (CFA) Skills and Abilities • Knowledge of clinical standards and practices of surgical technology • Ability to use hand quickly with precision • Effective communicator; Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently • Good listening skills to comprehend and quickly respond to the needs of the surgeon and surgical team • Keen attention to detail • High degree of responsiveness to changing schedules and priorities throughout the day Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships This role will interact closely various departments and committees within the hospital Physical Capabilities Work is demanding and requires ability to push, pull, and lift, up to 50 pounds. Requires lots of walking and extended periods of time standing and/or sitting. Effective communication with physicians and OR staff is critical. Near visual acuity required to work with documentation, instrument gauges, dials, and equipment indicators Environmental/Working Conditions This position is subject to varying indoor temperature changes. Work done intraoperative is performed in a high- risk area for exposure to blood borne pathogens and other biowaste hazards.
