Position Qualifications · At least 18 years of age. · Current registration with the State of California Home Care Aide Registry. We Provide paid training and help you with the registration process. · Completion of a criminal background check and disclosure of any criminal history or evidence of exemption. · Evidence of entry-level training or plan to complete paid training prior to client care and in accordance with CA regulations. · Evidence of tuberculosis testing and verification that the home care aide does not have active tuberculosis. · Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given. · Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision. · Empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impaired. · Demonstrates tact, patience, and good personal hygiene. · Valid driver’s license and auto insurance and/or reliable transportation required. Provides direct care to external Brookdale at Home clients, living outside the walls of a Brookdale Senior Housing Community, which reflects Brookdale’s philosophy and standards of non-skilled home care. Assists in meeting the client’s individual needs while treating the clients with respect and dignity. Works independently without on-site supervision and support in the client’s personal home. Assists clients with the activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring, and getting to and from activities and meals according to the client plan of care. Assists clients with homemaker companion tasks such as laundry, shopping, light housekeeping, meals, according to the plan of care. Follows assignment tasks. Contacts supervisor if client desires deviation from assigned tasks. Allows and encourages client to do as much of their own care as possible, to remain active.
