Registered Nurse, Transport Team, 0.9FTE Nights, 6PM-6AM This position will float to the following locations: Main Hospital, North Clinic in Everett, South Clinic in Federal Way and one other location TBD. Relocation assistance available. As an integral member of the Transport Team, the Transport RN functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by Washington State, the ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice, and adheres to Seattle Children's Hospital policies/procedures and guidelines of care. Responsible for the safety of patients prior to and during transport to medical care facilities. This includes the provision of basic patient care as well as advanced life support measures required to stabilize the critically ill or injured patient, demonstration of proficiency in neonatal and pediatric critical care nursing and knowledge of the adaptations necessary for patient management in the ambulance or aircraft and during transit. The Transport Nurse must also be familiar with ambulance and aircraft operating procedures and safety practices. Assists in meeting Seattle Children's strategic goals by incorporating the initiatives to support the strategic plans into the daily work, i.e. Continuous Improvement and Innovation (CII), ART, etc. The Transport RN serves as a team lead within the mobile transport team and may be required to provide supervision and delegation to other Registered Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, or Emergency Medical Technicians who are members of the mobile transport team. Must be available for call. This position may be based at Main Campus or at one of the off campus bases. Off campus bases may be at Seattle Children's locations, or at another site that is decided based on volume and efficiency. Required Education and Experience Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Minimum of three (3) years recent Critical Care Transport, pediatric critical care (PICU, CICU or other relevant unit), Emergency Department (ED) or neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) experience, at a 6.FTE or greater. Required Credentials Current Washington State RN License. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Those without ACLS will be required to obtain ACLS during the orientation, but no later than three months from the start date within the position. BLS for Healthcare Providers is required for all positions prior to start date. Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS), and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will be accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Providers. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Those without PALS will be required to obtain PALS during the orientation, but no later than three months from the start date within the position. Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP). Those without NRP will be required to obtain NRP during the orientation, but no later than six months from the start date within the position. Completion of an approved trauma course no later than six months from the start date within the position. As per the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), for RN's performing moderately complex point of care testing, a copy of a diploma or transcript of the highest level of academic achievement to be on record with Human Resources upon hire. This is a 0.6 FTE (48 hours per two week pay period), benefits-eligible opening on the weekend shift, Saturday and Sunday 12 hour day shift, 0700-1900. High Volume Ortho/Spine/Oral (mainly adults), Peds CV-Hearts/Cardio Thoracic Peds, Neuro/Generals/Urology/Bariatrics, Peds Transplant, Adult Urology, Benign GYN, ENT/Eye/Plastics, Peds Dental, Robotic DaVinci. We provide innovative surgical suites for adult and pediatric patients needing surgical intervention. We are currently renovating additional ORs to complement the existing 4 larger ORs, as well as creating new locker room and OR storage space. Our strong team is continuing to grow even stronger as we offer cross service training under the guidance of our scrub tech supervisor and scrub tech educator. Clerical and Administrative Duties • Responsible for clinical and clerical functions of the respective unit. • Performs secretarial duties for the unit including but not limited to faxing, copying, mailing, and typing any essential material. • Answers telephone promptly and courteously using proper telephone etiquette and routes calls and messages appropriately. • Ability to work both in the clinical and clerical setting. • Maintains chart organization per established procedures. • Maintains the orderliness of medical records in the electronic health record by ensuring accuracy of any outside records that are uploaded to the system. • Requests results, labs, and other patient-related records from outside offices. • Follows-up with patients to ensure that pre-op testing is done in a timely manner according to the scheduled date of surgery. • Contacts surgical patients for their scheduled arrival time and location the day before surgery. • Adheres to HIPPA standards. • Follows-up with medical doctor’s offices to ensure that all of the pre-op results are sent to the UPAC department in a timely manner to ensure that the patent can proceed with the scheduled surgical procedure. • Communicates closely with the RNs and APPs to ensure that the correct results/records have been obtained, reviewed, and finalized in a timely manner. • Reviews clinical records for completeness and to identify missing data (labs, EKGs, X-Rays, Cardiac Testing, Medical Clearances, etc.) in a timely manner to ensure that the patient can proceed with the scheduled surgical procedure. • Communicates with RNs, APPs, and Manager in a timely manner regarding missing reports. • Communicates concerns and changes to RNs, APPs, and Manager. • Delivers medical reports to RNs and APPs for review. • Accesses the computer system to obtain medical records, including UChart, Lab Corp, Quest etc. • Maintains effective communication with patients, physicians, RNs, APPs, and staff members. • Implements appropriate preventative measure for patients identified with safety risks (i.e. falls). • Schedules follow-up appointments and consults ensuring patient has appropriate information and provide as needed. • Assists with scheduling as needed for labs, or clinic appointments as needed. • Retrieves and/or assists clinical personnel in retrieving diagnostic studies as needed. • Retrieves and prints schedules for the next day. • Orders supplies for supply room as needed. • Maintains area stocked with the necessary supplies and forms. Registered Nurse, Operating Room (0.6, Nights) This is a 0.6 FTE Night position with an 8:30pm start time, with two 12 hour shifts. Relocation assistance is offered. As an integral member of the Health Care Team, the RN functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by the State, the ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice, and adheres to Seattle Children's policies/procedures and guidelines of care. Responsible for providing safe, family centered patient care. Using the Nursing Care Process, the RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in a collaborative method with the patient and patient's family, significant others, and members of the health care team. May be required to provide supervision and delegation of tasks to Nurse Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, Certified Nursing Assistants, and others as defined by the State Administrative Code. Assists in meeting Seattle Children's strategic goals by incorporating the initiatives to support the strategic plans into the daily work, i.e., Continuous Performance Improvement (CPI), Value Based Behaviors, Error Prevention, Patient Safety, Workforce Community and Connection etc. Required Education and Experience Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Prior experience in a pediatric related health care setting, or a specific area of nursing, may be required for specific departments. Required Credentials Current Washington State RN License, or other current state license that the RN is required to work in. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers is required for all positions at time of hire unless the incumbent possesses a current appropriate Life Support Education required for their practice area (refer to requirements per practice area below.) BLS must be maintained in current status until the incumbent obtains the appropriate Life Support Life Support Education required for their practice area (refer to requirements per practice area below) NOTE: Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will be accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Providers. ACLS will not be accepted as a substitute to the requirements listed above. Employees are responsible for any costs (including time away from work) associated with obtaining PALS or PEARS certification if it is not a requirement of the position. Nurses working in the following areas are required to successfully obtain PALS within 3 months of employment, and subsequently maintain at all times: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Specialty Care Unit, Cath Lab & Special Procedures, Clinical Research Center, Critical Care Float, Emergency Department, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Transport Control, Radiology (including Interventional Radiology and Endoscopy Lab), Recovery Room (PACU) Excluding RNs working exclusively in fixed term contracts with no direct patient contact, Surgery (including Bellevue Surgery Center) Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Pediatric health care nursing experience. Compensation Range $51.60 - $91.30 per hour Salary Information This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year).
