Job Summary Responsible for rendering professional nursing services, either directly or indirectly, for a defined group of patients according to the hospital’s philosophy of patient care. Maintain patient’s medical records in an orderly manner and document all care provided and significant information, legibly, accurately and completely. Provide clinical leadership for other staff members and participate in the orientation of new personnel. Assume charge nurse responsibilities when necessary. Assume responsibility for own professional development, setting goals and striving to achieve them through available resources, such as attending seminars, in services and/or reading journals. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Requirements I.V. certification. The ability to recognize all significant cardiac arrhythmia. A clear understanding of symptoms and clinical findings for myocardial infarction and its complications. An understanding of the needs of the critically-ill medical and surgical patient. A thorough knowledge of the psychological as well as the medical needs of the patient and the need to maintain an environment free from noise and anxiety. Competence in the operation of all resuscitation equipment. BLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support completion. New graduates will complete ACLS within one year of hire.
