Responsibilities The Clinic RN Supervisor is a highly responsible and independent professional nurse working in an outpatient clinic setting to provide high-quality care to patients and provides direct on-site supervision to over 10 clinical staff (MA, LPN, RN) members Collaborates with the Clinical RN Manager or Chief Nursing Officer to align clinical efforts across the physician practices Provides clinical nursing assessment, support, counseling, and direct patient care in a physician's office setting Responsible for coordinating daily practice activities and ensuring adequate coverage and appropriate staffing as well as maintaining mandatory regulatory institutional policy and procedures under the direction of the Manager and/or Medical Director Participates with management in the development and initiation of practice-specific policies, protocols, and critical pathways Participates in direct patient care activities under the supervision of a provider or advanced practitioner Assesses health status by completing a nursing assessment Educates patients about medication and special diets, preparing, and administering medication as directed, symptom management, and providing additonal information related to community resources. Inputs or assists with ordering all imaging, laboratory, surgery, procedural, and referral needs within the patient medical record using standing orders. Serves as primary role for completion of these orders and follow through for results or medical records for closure. Uses standing orders and protocols to review pateint results and provide instruction under the direction of a phshcian or advanced practitioner. The Clinic RN will be responsible for reviewing all incoming results for urgency and abnormality and escalate the provider for immediate attention. Collaborates with care team to ensure smooth and effective transitions of care Prepares or supervises preparation of clinic rooms and equipment for use as well as supports supplies ordering by maintaining inventories and participate as directed. Overview Our newly reopened Oncology Unit is a 16-bed unit dedicated to our patients with a variety of cancer diagnoses. Nurses in this area have a 1:5 ratio and specialize in the administration of chemotherapy. Our multidisciplinary team of oncologists, nurses, pharmacists, and support staff are not only skilled and knowledgeable, but are also deeply compassionate while working together to bring patients with cancer specialized nursing care. This unit diligently seeks to provide an optimal healing environment for each patient and their family in their unique journey. Responsibilities Plans, coordinates and directs quality, compassionate care by maintaining standards of professional nursing practice and creating positive therapeutic relationships with patients/families. Supervises LPNs, PCAs, PCAs/US, US, Ortho Techs and other non-licensed staff. Assesses condition on each assigned patient on admission and on an ongoing basis to include but not limited to the patient’s physical condition, psychological status, social status, spiritual and cultural needs, pain assessment/management, nutritional and functional status, developmental or age related factors, and discharge planning needs. Plans, provides, and documents patient and/or significant other education based on physical, behavioral, psychological, developmental, and age-related factors, after identifying barriers to learning. Evaluates and regularly reevaluates patient care; coordinates care planning with patient, family, providers and other disciplines to achieve patient-centered outcomes. Assigns and delegates nursing care to team members in accordance with the patient’s needs and the capabilities of the team members. Applies safety principles when performing care. Accurately documents observations, care provided and changes in care plan. Provides accurate handoff reports and participates in unit based huddles Assists in performance improvement (PI) activities by serving on PI teams as warranted, assisting with PI measures and supporting and implementing changes necessary for improvement.
