The primary responsibility of the Nurse is evaluation, monitoring, planning, administration, and direct delivery of patient-care services. This position is responsible for nursing assessment plans and overseeing the medical and psychiatric management of the patient in coordination with the attending providers. The Nurse is also a member of the Treatment Team and provides input into the development of the Master Treatment Plan. The Nurse functions under the guidance of their State Licensure within the facility in accordance with State and Federal regulations. Responsibilities Include: Essential Duties and Responsibilities Initiates the admission process by obtaining provider orders upon patient arrival at a residential facility and completing the initial nursing assessment within 24 hours, including assistance with medical intake (patient history and physical). Performs vital sign monitoring, including orthostatic vitals and blind weights as ordered by the provider; conducts patient assessments and documents findings in detailed nursing notes. Monitors and documents patient progress or regression in accordance with established policies and procedures. Assists providers in facilitating weekly patient consultations. Offers education and support to help patients develop the skills needed for safe self-administration of medications after discharge. Ensures accurate placement of medications in the designated medication box and updates the medication administration record (MAR) accordingly. Supports patients in obtaining medications from the pharmacy, including facilitating initial medication orders. Coordinates and facilitates the collection of laboratory specimens as ordered, ensures timely receipt of results, and communicates findings to the medical team for appropriate follow-up. Other Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrates knowledge of medication actions, side effects, and contraindications, and is responsible for researching unfamiliar medications prior to administration to ensure safe and informed care. Collects and records data in a comprehensive, accurate, and systematic manner. Responsible for maintaining patients’ records updated in electronic system. Supports a therapeutic milieu by monitoring patient behaviors, fostering a recovery-focused environment, and collaborating with the treatment team to reinforce structure, safety, and consistency. Communicates relevant information obtained from patients or families to the interdisciplinary team to support individualized care planning and treatment continuity. Coordinates with the Primary Therapist on any insurance review information needed. Works collaboratively with medical and psychiatric teams to provide integrated nursing care in support of eating disorder treatment goals. Participates in discharge planning with the medical and psychiatric teams to ensure continuity of care and safe transition from eating disorder treatment. Attend monthly nurse-led meetings and other team meetings as they arise to support effective communication and collaboration. Provides health education to patients through individual or group sessions when appropriate and documents sessions clearly, accurately, and concisely using the designated form. Assist patients in the coordination of their outpatient appointments as needed. Supports the informed consent process by helping patients understand procedures and treatments under the direction of the provider. Knows Baker Act (Florida Only) Delivers clinical nursing care in a safe, competent, and professional manner in accordance with established standards and protocols. Adheres to established standards of nursing practice and organizational policies. Completes required onboarding and annual training within designated timeframes and attends monthly clinical services training or other training as scheduled, in accordance with organizational policies and procedures. Demonstrates professionalism and serves as a positive role model for patients and staff within the therapeutic environment. Promptly reports suspected patient rights violations by established protocols. In an emergency or declared state of emergency, it may be required to stay on-site as a part of the emergency team until the emergency has ended. Performs other tasks, as assigned. Qualifications: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing is required. A minimum of one year of experience, preferred. Valid Nursing licensure required. Overview POSITION SUMMARY The purpose and overall goal of Pre-Anesthesia Screening (PAS) is to gather the clinical information necessary for the safe and effective administration of anesthesia through a process that is convenient for patients and physicians and results in efficient surgical throughput. The Nurse Practitioner of the Pre-Op clinic has overall supervision of the pre-operative clinic provided in the Surgery area, in addition to the flow of the pre-surgical testing and pre anesthesia clearance for patients to gain admittance to the operating room. The Nurse practitioner of the Pre-op clinic will provide input and assist with major decision making processes in regards to cardiac, pulmonary, and overall general health clearance for optimizing the health of patients who will undergo future surgery. They will play a major role in collaboration with the CRNA team and Internal Medicine department to decide if a patient is physically fit to undergo surgery and to decide if the patient’s laboratory markers deem them to be safe candidates for the administration of general anesthesia. Through the development of algorithms and checklists by the CRNA and surgical/Internal medicine team the NP of the Pre-OP clinic will follow these flowsheets to ensure safety of the surgical patient. This pre-op clearance process will allow EKG’s, labs, concerning physical disabilities, medication issues, and allergies to be pre-assessed prior to the day of surgery optimizing patient outcomes and preventing medical errors. The NP of Pre-op clinic will work along with the Chief CRNA to improve overall flow, function, safety and efficiency of the pre-operative and pre-anesthesia processes. Qualifications NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS Education: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) – Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP ) Experience: Must have completed a nurse practitioner degree Experience in a pre-op clinic setting preferred Must have active CPR/BLS certification 1-3 years of experience as an RN Mental: Licensure/Certification: Must possess a valid, current, full and unrestricted license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in any state within the United States, District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico Must be credentialed to serve on the Medical Staff (provide all related information as requested and needed for credentialing process) Other Skills and Abilities: A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers. This includes evaluating ALL patients sent from surgical clinics in a timely fashion to be evaluated and cleared for surgery. This will include a medical history to include allergies and medications, family history of anesthesia complications, physical exam and assessment through algorithms for readiness for surgery. When health or medical concerns arise, the NP will have a dual collaboration with the CRNA present a plan for surgical clearance. Consults to CRNA and IM should be made for all high risk patients. Cardiac clearance and pulmonary clearance may be needed and future testing will ultimately be determined by the CRNA or IM physician. The NP will be responsible for collecting labs and performing the EKG in the pre- op clinic. Supervises the activities of the staff in the pre-op clinic. Ensuring the patients are receiving the appropriate educational information from the pre-op nurse as well as appropriate pre-operative preps to include but not limited to bowel preps, antibiotics, and pre-op at home surgical preps. Provides input and attends meetings for all departments directly affected by pre-operative services. Plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs the operational services of pre-op clinic along with the Chief CRNA, both advise the Chief of Surgical Services, Medical Officer and the Chief Executive Officer of TCRHCC on perioperative matters concerning the pre-anesthesia testing clinic. Participates with members of other departments, in planning joint administrative and technical programs; and making recommendations for maximum coordination of pre-operative services with other patient services. Along with the Chief of Anesthesia, incumbent is also responsible for assuring that TCRHCC meets the requirements of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals (JCAHO) with regard to quality of care within the pre-operative anesthesia clinic and assures that hospital policies and procedures are followed. Committee responsibilities include OR committee attendance. Incorporates cultural and developmental needs into plan of care. Provides documentation of patient care in the patient record according to established standards of care. Participates in performance improvement activities which include collecting, analyzing data to identify quantifiable measures to maintain quality and the promotion of desired outcomes. Perform preoperative diagnostic procedures accurately and according to standards, policies, and procedures. Demonstrates competency in performing phlebotomy, obtaining various types of laboratory specimens, electrocardiograms, or other diagnostic tests. Effectively explains perioperative instructions, perioperative treatments, patient care principles, and nursing goals to patient and family/significant others. Ensure proper PPE is always worn while on duty including but not limited to, face mask, gloves, gown, isolation gown, NIOSH-approved N95 filtering facepiece respirator or higher, if available), and eye or face shield. Registered Nurse - TMCH Cancer Center Orange Grove

Summary Coordinates patient care planning with other disciplines utilizing the principles of the nursing process and critical thinking skills in order to maintain patient safety and well-being. Essential Functions Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure safe patient care. Writes or obtains initial nursing histories, assesses patients' conditions and develops individual care plans; maintains patient documentation. Receives and reviews preceding shift reports and floor nurse reports; makes complete rounds of all units, and notes patients' condition. Notifies appropriate physician regarding any unusual or unexpected events or problems requiring direct physician consultation. Works with other members of the interdisciplinary patient care team, implements and reinforces patient instructional needs with patient and family offering informational material and pointing out special areas of concern. Evaluates outcomes of patient care, consults with other specialists as needed and adjusts nursing care processes as necessary to ensure optimal patient care. Identifies and resolves workplace health and safety issues. P rovides appropriate, direct patient care utilizing appropriate aseptic techniques. May manage IV lines, ensure that sterile techniques are adhered to, and oversee patient movement and positioning to ensure that the patient is handled in a medically safe manner. May perform the administration of pharmacological vasodilator medications for the purpose of nuclear myocardial perfusion imaging; complies with examination competency as defined in the Imaging Services Practice Standards. Complies with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards and takes corrective action when violations occur. Orients, instructs, and educates assigned personnel. Adheres to and supports team members in exhibiting TMCH values of integrity, community, compassion, and dedication. Adheres to TMCH organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies and standards. Performs related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications EDUCATION : Bachelor’s degree preferred. EXPERIENCE : One (1) year of nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred. (Positions assigned to EP: require two (2) years of EP experience or demonstrated competency in all areas of EP Lab procedures). LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Current RN licensure permitting work in the State of Arizona and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Additional certification may be required per department. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Knowledge of direct patient care and critical care procedures and techniques, tools, and responses required to ensure optimal patient care. Knowledge of exam indicators, contraindications, and patient preparation. Skill in communicating in a clear and concise manner with staff involved in critical care, and physicians to ensure the proper care of patients. Skill in reading 12-lead EKG. Skill demonstrated in assigned disciplines such as EP, directly involved in patient care. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to complete routine reports and correspondence. Ability to listen and accurately interpret others’ communication or instructions to take appropriate action. Ability to speak and communicate effectively. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
