Qualifications Required Individuals entering the Surgical Technology profession on or after July 1, 2013 , must have an Associate degree in Surgical Technology . Individuals who worked as a Surgical Technologist in a surgical facility prior to July 1, 2013 , may qualify under applicable grandfathering provisions. Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program recognized by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAAHEP) or completion of an approved structured training program with an equivalent professional credential. Surgical Technologist certification is required for new hires who did not have surgical facility experience prior to July 1, 2013. Demonstrated knowledge of sterile and aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation, anatomy, and operative procedures. Preferred Previous Surgical Technologist experience is welcomed but not required.
