Meets one of the following: Completion of a Medical Assistant program and has work experience in a Medical Assisting or acute patient care capacity, which includes school-sponsored externships. Completion of a Medical Assisting-comparable military educational program for medics/hospital corpsman with an honorable discharge (if applicable). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for the American Heart Association (AHA) or obtains within 90 days of hire. Knowledge of basic medical procedures and medical terminology. Possesses critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to work in a stressful environment and exercise sound judgment, as well as organizational, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment with multiple providers. Basic computer and data entry skills. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrates flexibility, initiative, and a strong work ethic. Preferred Qualifications 6 months of clerical experience and experience related to patient care. Active certification as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Healthcare Association (NHA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through the American Medical Technologists (AMT). Possesses one of the following: 1 year of work experience in medical billing, patient registration, and/or patient scheduling. Education related to medical billing, patient registration, and/or patient scheduling from an accredited institution. Possess a current certification as a Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) from the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM). Experience calculating proper dosage and administering specific medications under the direction of the provider, particularly pediatric immunizations, and converting across measurement systems. Experience performing point of care testing, CLIA waived testing, wound care, dressing changes, specimen collection, and phlebotomy. Experience assisting with various procedures and tests, such as pulmonary function tests. Experience with Epic In-Basket management For ENT, Ortho, and Surgery Clinics: Experience assisting with external fixator removal, flex sigmoidoscopy, hemorrhoid banding, collars, cast removal, incision & drainage, cystoscopy set up and clean up, thyroid fine needle aspiration biopsy, reductions, and splint placement. Physical Requirements May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Ability to lift 250-300 pounds with assistance. Ability to push/pull up to 500 pounds with assistance.
