Job Summary This position is full-time, 4-10s or 5-8s, M-F, 7a-5:30p, no weekends or holidays Under the supervision and direction of the Medical, Advanced Practice Provider (APP) and Administrative Director of the MGH Wound Care Center, and in accordance with the rules and regulations of Massachusetts governing APP practice, the Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (APP) will be responsible for the evaluation and management of patients referred to the inpatient MGH Wound Care service and seeking care at the MGH Wound Care ambulatory clinic. Will collaborate with physicians, surgeons, nursing and administrative staff for patient care and the administration of the Center. Responsibilities for inpatient care consist of providing inpatient consult services by performing initial patient assessment, wound care, treatment as indicated, and coordinating transition to the outpatient Wound Clinic. In the outpatient Wound Clinic, the APP will treat the patient’s wounds, obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations to evaluate patients with cutaneous wounds, arrange diagnostic testing, coordinate consultations, design or modify treatment plans, communicate with referring physicians, and provide patient and family education. Ideal candidate will have: • Wound Care Certification or be willing to complete Wound Care certification course within 1 year, required • 3-5 years of experience with preference for surgical or wound care experience • 2 years APP experience, required Summary The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider. The NP is responsible for assessing and managing various patient populations, including those with medical and/or surgical conditions, as well as providing diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, developing appropriate plans of care, and conducting ongoing evaluations. May also perform additional duties, such as precepting a small group of learners. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions -Provides direct care, counseling, and education to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings. -Performs complete histories and physical examinations. -Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests. -Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings. -Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures. -Consistently provides high-quality and timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries. -Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population. Maintains timely ongoing verbal communication in order to assure good patient care and the effective running of the Clinic Responsible for collecting, collating, and entering data and information into the applicable database or format in an accurate and timely manner; maintains appropriate equipment logs and records per standards Accurately collects requested patient date (e.g. vital signs, weights and reason for visits), notifying the supervising RN of abnormalities; performs basic patient testing, including, but not limited to, tests for guiac, urine dip, and glucose fingerstick Treats patient in a manner that preserves and supports patient confidentiality, patient rights, and patient’s dignity; act as a member of the team of care givers Collects, labels, and sends specimens to the lab, with appropriate laboratory slips and/or requisitions Assists nurse/provider during complex treatments/procedures, including but not limited to, doing preps and set-ups for examinations/treatments, assisting during procedures when requested or required Check inventories on a weekly basis, order clinic supplies and stock them in their appropriate location upon arrival in order to avoid a shortage or misplacement of necessary supplies Clerical Support: Work effectively with BHCHP administrative and clinical staff to obtain information or paperwork necessary for enrolling patients into the appropriate medical or cash benefits programs. Copying, faxing and filing as needed Greet and register all patients Phone coverage and triage of calls Scheduling and recording primary and specialty appointments correctly and in a timely manner Handle third party billing process Qualifications: Successful completion of a Certified Medical Assistant program High School Diploma or Equivalent required Phlebotomy required Experience in a medical setting preferred Secretarial training a plus Knowledge of medical terminology and vital signs Computer skills preferred, including MS Office, MSI, IDX, Logician, EPIC Ability to operate basic office equipment (fax, copier) Compensation: The compensation is $22.25 per hour.
