Participates, with senior nursing leadership, in setting strategic direction for key programs. Job Responsibility Directs and has 24-hour responsibility for the overall assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care of a designated department or service line within the hospital. Participates, with senior nursing leadership, in developing nursing strategic plan for area of responsibility. Implements policies and programs that align with strategic goals and organization mission, vision, and values. Creates and communicates a shared vision, through influential leadership, to effectuate hospital and organizational goals. Functions as a key clinical leader and regularly collaborates with physician leaders and department administrators to achieve top level outcomes. Upholds and advances high quality patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Ensures a professional work environment is created and maintained that fosters team member respect, engangement, accountability and optimal patient outcomes. Promotes appreciative inquiry and evidence-based, ethical and compassionate practice. Directs staffing for patient care units. Ensures adherence to the established care delivery model, using knowledge of scope and standards of practice. Facilitates continual compliance for all responsible departments with the JC, CMS, New York State, DOH, Public Health Law, HIPPA regulations and System, hospital and department standards. Ensures all regulations and standards are addressed and current in policies and procedures. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of clinical competencies for patient population of oversight in order to direct patient care. Maintains current knowledge of scope and standards of practice, healthcare legislation, and population health.
