To be considered for the role, please apply at the following link: Position Details - Academic Personnel & Faculty The Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Washington invites applications for six (6) full-time Cardiothoracic Surgery Intensive Care (CTICU) Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant positions to support the rapid expansion and growth of the CTICU unit at the University of Washington Montlake Campus. Successful candidates will be expected to support the department's commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. This position provides a faculty appointment at the rank of Teaching Associate in the Department of Surgery with an anticipated start date in Fall 2026. Teaching Associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The Cardiothoracic Surgery Intensive Care (CTICU) Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a member of the Cardiothoracic Surgery CTICU multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, residents, fellows, and RNs providing intensive care services to patients and families. The CTICU APP role promotes independent clinical practice within a highly collaborative and established team model and is well supported with dedicated 24/7 in-house CTICU intensivist support. Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for providing independent and collaborative patient management from admission to the CTICU through transfer of care to the acute care setting. Responsibilities include the following: Work on a dedicated cardiothoracic inter-professional team with other established APPs, critical care physicians and cardiothoracic surgeons in addition to the multidisciplinary team.
