Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis. FLSA Status Non-ExemptJob Role Summary The Eskenazi Health Clinical Decision Unit is a specialized unit that provides short-term observation and treatment for patients who require further treatment past their emergency department visit. The unit is designed to improve patient flow, reduce unnecessary admissions, and enhance the quality of care for patients. Sixteen beds are staffed by four nurses and a care tech. The patients are cared for by nurse practitioners, and the team works collaboratively to evaluate patients, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and make treatment decisions. The Staff Nurse II provides clinical care and uses coordination skills for every patient served. This includes understanding of the expected patients served in the unit'(s) nursing care is delivered using the Eskenazi Health Model of Care-Synergy, the ability to coordinate with the patient and family/loved ones and other healthcare disciplines to ensure care is appropriate to meet patient care needs. Provides care coordination, case management, referral, and follow-up care to individuals and families who are members of a vulnerable population and/or high-risk groups. Qualifications Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a National League for Nursing accredited program with emphasis on epidemiology, infectious diseases, microbiology, statistics, or related courses. Master’s degree in public health nursing, public health, or epidemiology encouraged. 3 years of experience as a professional nurse, including at least one year of hospital practice and 2 years of practice in a public health setting with case (progressive) management responsibilities.
