Serve as first line in any medical emergency and works with the clinical team in incidences of psychiatric emergencies. Perform laboratory procedures from specimen collections, as authorized. Communicate with patients, physicians, nurses, and pharmacy staff. Oversee all aspects of admission/discharge process, including: Pre-screen of new patients for appropriateness for admission. Obtain physical assessment data and health history. Inventory and caring for patients’ personal possessions. Complete discharge paperwork. Provide quality assessments to client’s medication sheets and files to determine if clients are receiving appropriate medication in a timely manner, including proper destruction of medication. Follow all policies and procedures with regard to patient information protection, including alcohol-drug patient confidentiality and HIPAA. Attend training on chemical dependency as required. Maintains and adheres to established infection control/employee health program. Maintain and demonstrates a current working knowledge of applicable clinical procedures and nursing care based on company policy and State and Federal guidelines.
