ABOUT DPH CARDIAC PROGRESSIVE CARE UNIT (CPCU) The CPCU, a 43 bed unit, serves the adult population by offering Level II Cardiac Services The types of patients served are as follows: Acute Heart Failure, Acute or Uncontrolled Arrhythmias, Chest Pain, Cardiac Catheterization and Percutaneous Coronary Intervention. Position Summary The Clinical Assistant Nurse Manager (CANM) isresponsible for leading the shift operations within the clinical setting to ensure delivery of high-quality care, exceptional customer experience, and optimal patient flow. In conjunction with the Department Nursing Operations Manager and the Assistant Nursing Operations Manager (ANOM); the CANM provides guidance, fosters collaboration, and is responsible for the unit’s clinical operations including patient care assignments, customer experience, productivity, and quality outcomes in settings where an acute care patient receives active treatment for an injury, episode of illness, a medical condition, or post intervention with assessment. Essential Responsibilities: Patient Care: Welcome patients and prepare them for provider examinations by obtaining and documenting patient history, chief complaint, current medications, allergies, medical history, surgical history, family history, social history, preventive care information, and other relevant clinical information in the electronic medical record (EMR). Measure, document, and report vital signs and other clinical observations. Prepare patients and examination rooms for provider visits. Assist providers during examinations, treatments, and in-office procedures. Explain provider instructions, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care to patients as directed. Provide compassionate, professional service that promotes a positive patient experience. Clinical Procedures: Administer oral and injectable medications, immunizations, and treatments as directed by the provider and permitted by state regulations. Position Requirements/ Skills: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred (CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA, or equivalent certification). 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a physician practice, outpatient, or ambulatory care setting preferred. Current CPR/BLS certification required or obtained within organizational guidelines. IV Therapy certification preferred, where permitted by state regulations. Phlebotomy experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and clinical office procedures. Working knowledge of common medications and disease processes affecting the patient population served. Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, infection prevention, and CLIA regulations. Knowledge of medical coding principles preferred. Experience using electronic medical records (EMRs).
