Your Role on the Team Position Summary The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse responsibilities include attending births, monitor the health of newborns directly after birth, administering care to newborn infants residing in the NICU, and providing education/support to families as needed. The NICU Nurse must maintain a high level in quality, service, critical nursing skills and critical thinking. The NICU Nurse must be skilled in managing complex medical cases and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the best outcomes. The NICU Nurse must be familiar with and adhere to Regulatory Standards and UCI Health - Fountain Valley Policies and Procedure. Schedule: 7PM-7AM | 12 hours | 30 hours weekly Purpose Statement/Position Summary The Registered Nurse in the NICCU conducts patient assessments, participates in the development of the plan of care, implements and evaluates care according to patient specific age and/or developmental needs. The unit's specialized therapies include Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), Cardio-Renal Pediatric Dialysis Emergency Machine (CARPEDIEM), Neuro Critical Care with Whole Body Cooling (Therapeutic Hypothermia), and Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD) with a specialized Home Ventilator Program, while also providing some of the most highly specialized neonatal and infant surgical services available. SUMMARY Provides services and care for residents and patients. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Provides personal care and services such as: a) Assisting with activities of daily living (turning and positioning, toileting, bathing and grooming, feeding, and mobility) b) Obtains and records vital signs and weight as assigned. c) Accurately documents all care as required by company policy and in compliance with state and federal regulations. Provides non-resident services such as, but not limited to, washing wheelchairs and cleaning resident / patient areas in compliance with infection control procedures. Contributes to the resident assessment and care plan. Makes routine rounds on each assigned resident and patient in accordance with established procedures. Promptly communicates any significant changes in behavior or condition to supervisor. Completes required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations. ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, or related experience and / or training. Successful completion of State-approved Nursing Assistant Certification course or other education that meets state certification requirements.
