The Medical Assistant will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), Advanced Practice Nurse (APN), or Physician, assisting with a range of clinical and administrative tasks such as administering vaccines, conducting EKGs, recording vital signs, maintaining accurate patient records, and collaborating with the healthcare team to enhance patient care. Perform any or all duties involving direct patient care as assigned by the registered nurse or physician and within the scope of the Nursing policies and procedures. Appropriately implement and document patient and family education as delegated by the RN or physician. Obtain and record vital signs. Perform tests, i.e. pregnancy tests, urinalysis, and hemocults, etc., specific to the patient population. Document all aspects of patient care according to hospital policies and procedures. Perform phlebotomy services. Assist with collection of specimens. Perform labeling and logging of specimens in compliance with hospital standards. Performs other duties as assigned. The Nursing Supervisor is a liaison to department directors and administration to insure coordinated and efficient operations of services and departments. This position promotes patient care consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Hartgrove Behavioral Hospital. This supervisor must demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to manage units providing care to a varied population including children and adolescents with mental health issues. Experience: Three-year prior psychiatric experience in mental health nursing. Previous clinical supervisor role in a psychiatric setting preferred. Knowledge/Skills: Possess knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing processes, therapeutic relationships and processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting, crisis and behavior management, and have CPR training. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Must be self-motivated, results-oriented individual who is customer focused. Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are a plus.
