Gives direct nursing care to assigned patients (e.g., medications, treatments, dressing changes, resident care, TPR) according to established standards. Recognizes changes in patient condition and responds appropriately, notifying charge nurse as needed. Administers medication according to hospital policies; understands and monitors age specific data including meds, lab/diagnostic results, etc. Patient Care Responsibilities Applies principles of infection control and safety in the performance of patient care. Responds appropriately in crisis situation; able to prioritize. Reports significant unit problems to the charge nurse. Demonstrates understanding and complies with all regulatory agencies; ability to assume charge in the absence of a charge nurse.
