About this Job: (RN) Nursing students slated to graduate in 2027 are encouraged to apply now for our Winter Student Nurse Extern Program This dayshift position will be based on the 48-bed Stroke & Neurology Telemetry Unit at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center. As an extern, you will gain experience caring for neurological patients, including those who may have stroke, seizure, brain mass, neuro-surg and demyelinating diseases. This unit also provides care for patients who have a diagnosed respiratory need as well. Gain valuable hands-on experience while working alongside an experienced RN mentor and interdisciplinary care team. For at least 50% of your clinical time, you will receive one-on-one mentorship, coaching, and support to help build your clinical skills, critical thinking, and confidence as a future nurse. You will also be supported by a Nursing Professional Development Specialist and participate in bi-weekly educational sessions designed to enhance your learning experience. Program Expectations: During the Winter Cohort, externs will work full-time hours, consisting of 12-hour shifts, for approximately five weeks.
