The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care for patients following established standards and practices. They prepare patients during office visits and assist patients and family members before, during and after a doctor’s visit. Performs general nursing care to patients (including phone and in-person triage), administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards. Assists with the preparation of equipment and aids physician during treatment, examinations, and testing of patients. Records patients' medical history, vital statistics and additional information such as test results in electronic medical records (EMR). Collects blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, logs the specimens, and prepares them for testing. Administers injections and prescribed medications as directed by the physician. Observes, records, and reports patient’s condition and reactions to drugs and treatments to the physician. Greets patients and prepares them for examination, screens patients for appropriate information and instructs patients in collection of samples and tests. Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls. Instructs patients and family members regarding medications, test results and treatment instructions. Assists with referrals and medication refills. Maintains patient recall lists. Formulates and updates patient care plans, and orders, prepares, and inspects patient charts, records test and examination results in the patient chart. Prepares examination rooms, including restocking of supplies in treatment areas. Attends required meetings and participates in team activities and professional development activities. Represents division in a professional manner. Treats all patients, customers, internal and external, in a courteous and cooperative manner.
