Schedule: Full-time, two 8-hour shifts and two 12-hour shifts and are set upon hiring. Some positions are on call 24/7, and rotating call may be required at some locations. Job Summary Provides direct patient care based on the knowledge of ANA Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing, Butler Hospital policies and procedures, and the RI Nurse Practice Act. Duties & Responsibilities Participates in treatment planning to coordinate management of medical and nursing care and discharge planning of their patients. Coordinates Psychiatric and/or Medical emergencies in such a manner that assures that the individual in crisis is properly cared for and that all other patients are safe. Participates as an active team member by assisting other staff and accepting additional assignments to complete essential patient care and unit responsibilities. Administers medications with knowledge of action, mode of administration, side effects, and contraindications. Assumes role of Charge Nurse for the shift. Respond to medical emergencies, providing first aid and initiating appropriate interventions. Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times. Utilize and maintain medical equipment (e.g., monitors, IV pumps, ventilators).
