Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary Dr. Randall Bateman’s lab investigates the causes, and future diagnosis and treatments of Alzheimer’s disease utilizing a wide variety of assays and techniques from basic applications such as quantitative measurement of stable-isotope labeled peptides to clinical translational studies in diagnostic and therapeutic biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease. We have an ongoing clinical study to collect matched blood and cerebrospinal fluid from patients with memory concerns in the clinic, and will be launching a new study called the Study to Understand Novel Biomarkers in Researching Dementia (SUNBIRD) to validate blood biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease in a large clinic-based cohort. This position is a member of a multidisciplinary research team and performs duties associated with the coordination and implementation of research studies/projects, data collection, and the management of data generate by study protocols. Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary This position will be in the Radiology Clinical Research Core (RadCore). RadCore supports novel clinical and translational research studies in the Department of Radiology. This position will support multiple clinical research studies on day-to-day clinical trial activities such as patient recruitment, data collection and entry, patient education, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining accurate documentation of research activities. Additional Information About the Role The 24/7 Cancer Care Clinic features an outpatient treatment area for patients to come in for scheduled appointments to receive chemotherapy, blood products, IV hydration, central line and port care, phlebotomy, etc. The scheduled infusion space is staffed with staff nurses and patient care technicians. There are also Nurse Practitioners in the Cancer Care Clinic who see patients in a patient care room setting within the clinic for symptom management concerns. This allow Oncology patients from the Siteman Cancer Center to receive care for some urgent needs. These patients are managed by the Nurse Practitioners and cared for the the staff nurses and PCTs. Additionally, when patients need to be admitted to the hospital, the Cancer Care Clinic begins the care for some of these patients who meet specific criteria. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration. Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development. Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care. Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
