Job Description Job Summary: The Patient Navigator-Registered Nurse (RN)-Cancer is a skilled oncology nurse and specializes in caring for patients eighteen years of age or older with suspected or confirmed malignancies or a hematologic disorder in the outpatient Cancer Center. Utilizes discretion and independent judgment in applying the nursing process to the provision of age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient care. Case manages and coordinates the continuum of care from referral through the treatment process in collaboration with the physician and the multidisciplinary team. Proactively manages daily clinic activities to ensure efficiency and timely patient visits. Implements research protocols in collaboration with the research team. Facilitates the empowerment of the nursing profession and embraces new knowledge, innovations and improvements in practice to enhance the patient experience and clinical outcomes. Demonstrates flexibility and willingly floats to other areas as assigned. Performs other duties as needed. Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing required (in progress acceptable). Minimum one year of nursing experience required. Minimum one year of oncology nursing preferred. One year case management or transitional care management experience preferred. Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrates proficient competencies in clinical oncology/hematology nursing. Ability to apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in oncology/hematology treatment modalities. Job Description Job Summary: The Clinical Nurse B-Emergency Department (ED), functions in a Magnet Recognized large tertiary academic medical center with level one trauma designation, ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) receiving center designation, Comprehensive Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center accreditation. Performs the nursing process (assessment, care planning, intervention, evaluation) with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment that treats a culturally diverse patient population presenting with a variety of illnesses and diseases in varying stages and/or minor and major injuries. Rapidly assesses and stabilizes patients with life-threatening situations. Demonstrates basic knowledge about agencies governing emergency and trauma services, e.g., Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act (EMTALA), local Emergency Medical Services (EMS) agency, Inland Counties Emergency Medical Association (ICEMA), and State Emergency Medical Services Authorities (EMSA), in addition to state and federal hospital regulations. Monitors patient care provided by unlicensed staff: Assigns duties as specified by State Nurse Practice Act, Genesis policy, and staff training Communicates patient information with unlicensed staff during and between shifts Monitors, evaluates and follows-up on assigned responsibilities of unlicensed staff Ensures that assigned tasks are performed in accordance with policies and procedures Uses Point Click Care (PCC) according to the Business Processes Performs drug count when beginning and ending shift and whenever necessary Assists physician in rounds and examination of patients, as needed Participates in shift-to-shift communication between incoming and outgoing nursing staff Collaborates and coordinates with other departments to provide timely effective care consistent with individual’s needs, choices and preferences Contributes to an environment that is respectful, team-oriented, and responsive to the concerns of staff, patients and families Enhances nursing practice by attending all mandated in-service programs Assists with the orientation of newly hired nursing staff Promotes a culture of safety to ensure a healthy practice and living environment Maintains confidentiality and protects sensitive Protected Health Information (PHI) at all times Stays and works beyond scheduled shift if needed to meet state staffing requirements and/or needs of patients Performs other duties as requested Qualifications: Graduate of an approved school for practical or vocational nursing is required Must be currently licensed by the State Board of Nursing Current CPR and first aid certifications a plus IND123
