JOB SUMMARY Responsible to provide direct nursing care to the customer, and to supervise the day-to- day nursing activities performed by the nursing assistants. Such supervision must be in accordance with current Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, facility policies. The objective is to ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. QUALIFICATIONS Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as a RN or LPN in the State of Illinois and/or Wisconsin. Must possess current CPR certificate or become certified within two weeks of employment. Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures. Demonstrates interest and/or knowledge in care of the aged. Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with customers, family members, visitors, personnel, government agencies/personnel, and the general public. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Accepts and supports as directed by appropriate authority. This may require different floor, customers, workload, and multiple tasks as assigned. Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the Ladies and Gentlemen of Alden for a respective unit. Assume all Nursing procedures and protocols are followed in accordance with established policies. Directly supervise and instruct the Ladies and Gentlemen of Alden on a number of topics to promote job knowledge. Ensure all the Ladies and Gentlemen of Alden follow established departmental policies and procedures, including appropriate dress code. Assist in developing a written plan of care for each customer that identifies the problems/needs of the customer. Attends and actively participates in customer care plan conference as directed. Report all concerns, complaints made by the customer or their family to the Administrator. Counsel/discipline nursing personnel as requested or as necessary. Make daily rounds to ensure nursing personnel are performing required duties, and to ensure appropriate procedures are being followed. Make physical rounds to all customers daily. Make rounds with physicians as necessary. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the department. Attend and participate in continuing education programs. Recommend to the Director of Nursing the equipment and supply needs of the department. Place orders for medications and treatments as necessary following established budgetary guidelines. Utilize PCC 24-hour summary concerning recommendations/concerns related to customer care needs. Fill out complete accident/incident reports. Encourage attending physicians to review treatment plans, record and sign their orders, progress notes, etc., in accordance with established policies. Chart nurses’ notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided to the customer, as well as the customer’s response to the care. Complete required assessments upon the customer’s admission, transfer, and/or discharge. Receive telephone orders from physicians and record on the Physicians’ Order Form and P.O.S. Record new/changed diet orders. Forward information to the Dietary Department. Perform routine charting duties as required and in accordance with our established Charting and Documentation Policies and Procedures. Responsible for completion of admission, discharge, and transfer processes. Prepare and administer medications and treatments if appropriate as ordered by the physician. Review medication record for completeness of information, accuracy in the transcription of the physician’s order, and adherence to stop order policies. Administer professional services such as: catheterization, tube feedings, suction, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy, and drainage bags, care of the dead/dying, etc., as required. Participate in the orientation of new customers/family members to the facility. Arrange for diagnostic and therapeutic services, as ordered by the physician. Notify the customer’s attending physician and family when there is a change in the customer’s conditions. Obtain sputum, urine and other lab tests as ordered. Take and record TPR’s, blood pressures, accuchecks, etc., as necessary. Contact the customer’s physician for: Nursing assessment of change of condition. Medication orders or charges. To inform of incidents. To report abnormal results of Lab and X-ray. Anything else pertinent to the customers’ care and well-being. Ensure the nurses’ notes and monthly summaries reflect the care plan and is being followed. Attend staff meetings, etc., as directed. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements Education Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program preferred 1+ years of Medical Assistant experience under a licensed healthcare supervisor within the last 3 years preferred CPOE must be obtained within 2 weeks of hire if Medical Assistant Certification is not obtained upon hire required High school diploma or equivalent required Work Experience Medical Assistant experience preferred for Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or 2+ years of experience within the last 3 years under a licensed healthcare supervisor in lieu of a Medical Assistant program preferred. Training or related experience required Experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR) Urgent care experience preferred. Essential Functions The Training Coach - MA focuses on assessment and validation of team member’s skills and competencies. Duties include: Teach and evaluate team members’ technical skill competencies using pre-approved methods and procedures. Conduct orientation to the center, department and/or organization to cover predetermined learning items. Teach and train team members to bring them up to predetermined levels of competency for the specific job. Hosts Learning Coach Workshop, as needed. Acts a backup to the Training Specialists and completes classroom-based training; complete Airtable compliance documentation. Meets the required minimum 40 hours to a maximum of 80 hours of dedicated time invested with up to 6 assigned team members to ensure a level of knowledge and skills is acceptable within the company’s learning standards required. Ensure a flexible schedule to capture new hires with challenging schedules i.e., Per Diems, Temporary, etc.… Provide in-center coaching to new team members on all assigned areas of the core competencies. Offer hands-on market specific training needs, from new hire training, check-ins, market process updates/changes, clinical refresher needs, registration process refresh/updates, and a nnual competencies. Ensure accountability of team members’ competence validation. Collaborate with Training Specialists and Learning team leaders for ongoing quality improvements for the training program. Operates in a mobile capacity; travel to sites where majority of new hires home locations are near, as assigned. Attends mandatory operations/learning meetings on behalf of Training Specialist in their absence. Conduct patient registration, which includes securing required paperwork and insurance documentation, and verification of insurance and patient eligibility. Process co-pays and schedule patient appointments for assigned center. Coordinate provider referrals to assigned Specialist. Answer patient questions regarding their care and keep them informed of their status. Inform technical staff of patient flow. Prepare patients for examination, which includes conducting interviews to verify patient information, record medical history; confirm purpose of visit; etc. Perform preliminary physical test (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) for vital signs and escalate critical cases to provider as needed. Conduct point of care testing as needed (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG); and provide patient information to provider. Responsible for stocking supplies and maintenance of exam rooms, front desk, and reception area; ensure providers have medical supplies needed. Responsible for completing order sheets to maintain supply inventory levels; regularly check expiration dates on supplies. Responsible for maintenance of medical records and scanning charts to patient files. Answer phone calls, collect and sort daily incoming and outgoing postal correspondence. Ensure reception area is well maintained. Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up. Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs for equipment troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed. Other patient care responsibilities as defined in the Medical Assistant Guideline document . Summary The RN 1 is a beginning level nurse who utilizes a scientific and theoretical knowledge base along with policy and procedures, standards of care and protocols to guide practice. The RN 1 relies on the experience, judgment and support of others while developing knowledge in practice. Qualifications Other information: Knowledge Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure required. Maintain current BLS certification. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) (New graduates must have acceptance into an accredited school of nursing within 6 months from date of hire, Within 1 year from the date of hire, employee must be enrolled in a BSN program. RNs hired prior to 10/22/2020 are grandfathered in with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or diploma in nursing, with no further need to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BAN or BSN). Chief Nursing Officer must provide approval for any RNs with ADN degree hired after 10/22/2020, based upon unit need. ADN RNs hired after 10/22/2020 must show continued enrolment towards a BSN degree with a signature of contract stipulating a BSN degree must be completed within 3 years of hire, Failure to do so will result in termination. ADN RNS are not eligible for leveling to RN3. Abilities Work requires the ability to walk throughout the Medical Center and to be standing or walking most of the designated shift. Work requires lifting or carrying objects 35-40lbs. and supporting and positioning patients, some of whom may exceed 300 lbs. The ability to check documents for errors, use a keyboard to enter or retrieve data, and closely examine specimens, images or reports is required. Work conditions include performing procedures where carelessness could result in injury or illness and/or contact with potentially infectious materials and/or strong chemical agents. Supports a hospital wide innovation to achieve positive outcomes. Establishes a caring, therapeutic relationship with patients and families through effective communication, acknowledgement of patient/family perceptions of health and illness and mutual goal setting for optimal outcomes Treats patients and families with respect and a sensitivity for diverse viewpoints and cultures. Maintains positive, professional relationships with all members of the healthcare team. Works effectively with other professional nurses through mutual support and respect. Demonstrates beginning collaboration skills to meet the needs of patients and families. Utilizes beginning assessment skills to evaluate the physical and psychosocial needs of patient/family. Uses scientific and theoretical knowledge to develop and implement the plan of care for assigned patients with support from experienced staff. Recognizes a change in patient status and seeks appropriate resources to address concerns. Uses medical devices safely and effectively in the delivery of patient care and seeks guidance when needed. Demonstrates accountability for implementing policies related to safe and effective administration of medications. Assesses patient safety needs and implements appropriate strategies (fall precautions, infection control, and suicide risk patient identification) to minimize risk and seeks guidance when needed. Applies the teaching-learning process effectively to meet the learning needs of patients and families. Demonstrates accountability for own professional practice, including progress toward achievement of annual goals with guidance. Supports unit goals and change initiatives.
