Graduate Nurses (GNs) must complete the licensure examination within six months of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first. Temporary permits are valid for one year from the date of graduation, or until examination results are known, at which time the permit becomes null and void. UPMC requires Graduate Nurses to take the licensure examination within six months of their start date. Failure to do so may result in termination or demotion from the Graduate Nurse position at the discretion of the business unit.
