Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and shows a fundamental understanding of its implications by reporting information to the physician and others caring for the patient, and by incorporating information in the nursing care plan. Uses assessment information to develop a care plan that communicates enough information for incoming personnel to adequately care for the patient. Includes the patient and their family in planning care, establishing priorities, and setting goals. Consistently follows established standards, policies and procedures in providing nursing care. Accepts accountability for clinical care of assigned patients, including supervision of nonprofessional personnel. Identifies patient teaching needs and provides elementary instructions for the patient and their family. Notes discharge planning elements and incorporates these in care plans. Responds appropriately in urgent and/or emergency situations. Evaluates and notes the individual patient’s response to nursing care defined in the nursing care plan and medical records. Appropriately delegates and supervises care scheduled by non-professional personnel, providing instruction as needed. Delivers care to the newborn, administer newborn medications, assist with newborn procedures, and monitors newborn vital signs. Bargaining Unit: EAP Rate of Pay: $71.92/hour + DOE Summary The Trauma Performance Improvement RN provides support for quality improvement initiatives utilizing clinical knowledge and expertise, translates data from various registries and collaboratives into meaningful information for quality improvement initiatives relating to patient outcomes and partners with the Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Medical Director to identify, analyze, monitor, and improve key performance indicators. The Trauma Performance Improvement RN also functions independently in performing the nursing process through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of safe therapeutic care for patients’ needs and/or complications of treatment in the Emergency Department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assists with monitoring the care of hospital trauma patients according to the Tahoe Forest Trauma Clinical Practice Guidelines and Process Improvement dictionary while protecting confidentiality. Assists in the data collection and distribution of findings to the trauma leadership for opportunities for process improvement. Attends all trauma related meetings to collaborate on process improvement and education opportunities. Assists in the development of protocol and clinical practice guideline development for the Tahoe Forest trauma system. Collaborates with the Trauma Program Manager to identify community injury prevention opportunities and develop education.
