The Nurse Manager is responsible for planning, directing and controlling the services and daily operations of their department/clinics. The manager oversees the administrative functions including day-to-day operations, develop and oversee budget, human resources management, and quality assurance activities for their department/clinic. This management position collaborates with medical leaders, peers and colleagues at Fred Hutch as well as our partner institutions to assure the provision of high quality, patient and family-centered care in an environment that facilitates the conduct of clinical research. Work situations range from clinical to managerial and require independent decision-making, analysis, policy and program development, problem and issue resolution and leadership skills. This is an onsite position at our South Lake Union location. Responsibilities With medical staff leaders, is responsible for the organizational, management, operational and administrative activities of the clinics. Provides for Registered Nurse and assistive personnel supervision at the appropriate depth and scope for the patient/population needs. Functions as a clinical role model for staff nurses by staying current on clinical practice issues. Assures a safe environment for clinical staff to care for patients, including provision of appropriate patient care equipment and assuring compliance with procedures. Ensure department is staffed appropriately and supervise staff, including hiring, performance evaluations, ensuring training and development, handling disciplinary action, layoff and termination issues. Provides teaching, coaching and consultation on clinical issues for professional nursing staff. Encourages innovative approaches to patient care in collaboration with clinic management team. Support and implements specific customer service, financial goals & objectives and quality initiatives consistent with Fred Hutch’s strategic plan and goals. Prepares and monitors the operating budget. Analyzes financial impact of internal changes and implements clinically sound cost-efficiencies Ensures customer satisfaction by analyzing customer complaints, concerns and suggestions and providing appropriate follow-through Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a related healthcare field required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Must have current Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license or current NLC multistate license (MSL); and MSL with Primary State of Residence to WA is required within 60 days of hire. This requirement may be waived under specific circumstances, subject to approval. Works well with team members toward a common purpose; reinforces the efforts and goals of the work group; supports the team’s decisions regardless of individual viewpoint. Demonstrates good customer relations skills. VINCENT/BROADVIEW CENTER ** The ARNP hired into this role will primarily work within an assigned core facility building and must be flexible and willing to float to other buildings or care settings within the assigned geographic area when census or operational needs require additional clinical support. Must be willing and able to take on changes to the assigned core facility when census levels, staffing needs, organizational priorities change require additional clinical support. Job Summary: Provide mid-level practitioner services to geriatric population in sub-acute skilled nursing facility (SNF) stays and residential care. Perform in-depth physical assessment and management of illnesses or conditions within the ARNP scope of practice and in collaboration with MD, pharmacists, and other interdisciplinary team members. May diagnose and manage acute episodic and chronic health problems independently. Essential Responsibilities: Provides comprehensive evaluation and management of acute, episodic, and chronic health problems for patients in skilled nursing facility and residential care stays, ensuring complete and appropriate assessment and plan of care in a timely manner within ARNP scope of practice. Collaborates with attending physician and provides mid-level practitioner services, including initial evaluation, ongoing medical monitoring, triage of changes in patient condition for the MD/ARNP team, and ensures appropriate medical discharge planning. Uses prescriptive authority, in compliance with State and Federal law, to appropriately order medications, treatments, and therapies. Orders and interprets lab work, x-rays, and other tests. Facilitates day to day plans for ongoing medical care; makes telephone encounter or episodic visits as necessary in response to patient, family, and SNF/LTC facility concerns. Performs annual physical assessments for residential patients. Provides primary contact for health and medical care for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington members during a nursing home stay. Monitors quality of care and provides expert clinical resource for nursing home staff. Educates patients and families about medical treatment options. Participates in family care conferences when needed for health care planning. Coordinates care within KFHPW care continuum. Monitors quality of care and provides expert clinical resource for nursing home staff. Ensures complete, accurate, legible, and timely submission of paperwork. Attends staff meetings.
