Assist optometrists during examinations and procedures by preparing patients, rooms, equipment, and supplies and providing clinical support throughout the visit. Accurately document patient histories, test results, clinical information, and services in the EHR and ensure information is available for provider review. Reinforce provider-directed education related to eye health, medications, contact lens care, treatment plans, and follow-up appointments. Support referrals, scheduling, follow-up care, patient communication, and other clinical coordination activities. Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked examination rooms and equipment while following infection prevention and patient safety standards. Promote a positive patient experience by supporting efficient patient flow and providing compassionate, culturally responsive care. Participate in quality improvement, compliance, and team initiatives that support the delivery of high-quality optometry services. Qualifications Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program. At least one year of Medical Assistant experience in an optometry setting required. Experience performing optometric pre-testing, including visual acuity, visual fields, tonometry, and lensometry, strongly preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred. Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification prior to hire. Experience working with patients across the lifespan, including children, preferred. Strong communication, organization, and patient-service skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This is a temporary position for approximately six (6) months. Provide patient education regarding medications, treatment plans, preventive care, immunizations, disease management, lifestyle modifications, and follow-up care. Perform routine clinical screenings and preventive assessments, including blood pressure, pulse oximetry, BMI, vision screening, and other age-appropriate screenings. Obtain and review patient consents and ensure required documentation is complete and accurate.
