Our Infusion Centers are staffed with Registered Nurses (RNs) experienced in the handling and the administration of chemotherapy and the latest drugs used to treat cancer and other conditions. Medical treatment in our infusion centers include but are not limited to: Immunoglobulin Therapy; Therapeutic Phlebotomy; Hydration; Administration of Blood Products; Biological Therapies; Plasmapheresis. Full time, 40 hours per week Part time, less than 40 hours per week Per Diem (if available), minimum of 2 shifts/month All positions (including per diem) must have the ability to complete 6-7 business days of initial orientation as well as required unit orientation. JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Performs in depth, systematic assessment of all assigned patients. Formulates collaborative and individualized plan of care and identifies expected patient outcomes, using the nursing process and prioritizes patient care consistently utilizing available resources cooperatively with ancillary, nursing and other patient-team personnel to maintain standards for professional nursing practice. Provide comprehensive clinical therapeutic infusion services to patients in a controlled medical setting. Demonstrates knowledge of administration and handling of antineoplastic medications and biological modifiers. Demonstrates knowledge of bladder chemotherapy and administration of agents intravesically as necessary. Functions as a professional role model and resource person providing guidance to co-workers. Demonstrates/models the Network’s Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external. Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of information. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: One-year acute carenursing experience preferred. Oncology nursing experience preferred. Successful completion of BLS. Basic computer skills, preferred.Within 6 months or less of employmentwill take the Oncology Nursing SocietyChemotherapy/Biotherapy Course with successful completion of post-test. (Can not administer chemotherapy until this course is completed.) PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Sit up to 2 hours per day; 1 hour at a time. Stand for up to 8 hours per day; 4 hours at a time. Walk 6 hours per day; 10 minutes at a time. Consistently lift, push, and carry objects up to 10 lbs. frequently lift, carry and push objects up to 75 lbs. Transport patients weighing up to 400 lbs. via wheelchair, bed and or stretcher with assistance when appropriate. Consistently pull up, bend, crouch, kneel, and climb. Frequently reach above shoulder level. Occasional crawling. Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch. Frequently finger and handle objects. Occasionally firmly grasp, twist, and turn objects with hands and fingers. Must be able to hear as it relates to normal conversation, high and low frequencies. Must be able to see as it relates to normal conversation, high and lowfrequencies. Must be able to see as it relates togeneral, near, far, color, and peripheral vision, depth, perception, and visual monotony (e.g. computer screen). How you make a difference The Nurse Practitioner provides a full range of medical services for inmates. They work under the supervision of the Site Medical Director and other site Physicians and in accordance with established policy and procedure as well as within the state guidelines. They provide required documentation of services to the Site Medical Director or designee in order to monitor provision of clinical services. They notify the Medical Director and H.S.A. regarding changes in schedule coverage. Assist in arrangements for coverage of medical services if unavailable for an extended period of time. Key Responsibilities Reports to the assigned facility at designated times to examine patients, conduct chronic care clinics and sick calls, and perform infirmary rounds, ensuring all interactions and progress notes are documented in SOAP format and adhere to established standards. Responds to health emergencies and provides on-site emergency treatment, adhering to standard guidelines, and provides call coverage for the facility based on client and patient needs. Utilizes available in-house resources for treatment before considering off-site referrals and adheres to the established formulary for therapeutic regimens, ensuring non-formulary procedures are justified and approved by the Medical Director. Supports standards of medical care by following policies and procedures for infirmary admissions, emergency room transfers, and the utilization review process for specialty referrals while maintaining responsibility for individual judgments and actions. Maintains patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with accepted practices for incarcerated individuals and participates in facility committees, such as Pharmacy and Therapeutics and Medical Audit Committee, as requested. Qualifications & Requirements Education A graduate of an accredited school of nursing An advanced degree in an approved and accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Experience Prior medical/surgical and/or emergency/trauma experience and corrections experience is preferred. Must have the patience and tact to deal with the inmate population and ability to work effectively in the corrections environment. Scheduling flexibility is also required to be able to rotate hours and shifts, if needed, and to be called during emergency situations to provide coverage. Licenses/Certifications Must have and maintain current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner within the state of employment. Must have and maintain current CPR certification.
