This position requires giving chemotherapy, biotherapy, clinical trials infusion and other infusion related services as well as blood work, dressing change, injections in a fast paced outpatient infusion center setting. This position also requires caring for post Bone Marrow Transplant patients. This position requires the ability to respond and handle urgent medical emergencies. Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care. While not required, a cover letter is highly recommended when applying to this position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing. Current California RN license. BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date. ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy certification with recent experience (within the last 6 months). Minimum one (1) year of recent (within the last 6 months) oncology infusion center or acute care oncology experience actively administering a wide variety of chemotherapy regimens and corresponding knowledge of oncology diagnoses and treatments. Demonstrates independent thinking, decision making, problem solving, and prioritizing skills related to chemotherapy infusion treatments and oncology patients. Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS BSN. Recent infusion center experience. BMT experience is highly preferred. Clinical Trials Infusion experience. OCN certification. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: * Education: Possess a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, a Graduate Diploma in Nursing, or an Associate Degree in Nursing, from an accredited agency such as the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). * Experience: Possess a minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Perioperative RN within the last three (3) years. The minimum of 2 years’ experience would ideally be comprised of greater than 50% in the role of circulating RN. Scrub RN experience is not essential. * Life Support Certification: Possess a current AHA or ARC BLS, ACLS and PALS * Licensure: Must hold a full, current, and unrestricted nursing license in a State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia and must maintain a nursing license to practice in the United States of America. * Security: Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance. The salary range for this position is $68/hr. - $81/hr. This position will be responsible for completing regular biopsychosocial assessments and care plans with patients, communicating and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure coordination of care, providing education to patients/families regarding treatment plans, medications, advance directives, appointments and so forth, assessing patients and families for additional resource and referral needs, evaluating response to plan of care and ensuring appropriate documentation. This RN will also be cross-trained in the procedure room to ensure patient safety while providing pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure care for adult and pediatric patients undergoing brachytherapy and/or moderate sedation. The RN will collaborate with the healthcare team working within the brachytherapy suite to ensure patient safety and compliance with all regulatory requirements, including infection prevention, sterile technique, instrument management, and care coordination. Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously, consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care. Active RN license issued by the State of California. BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date. Must obtain PALS certification within six (6) months of hire. Minimum of two (2) years of RN experience, including experience in oncology within the last year, outpatient experience preferred. Experience coordinating multidisciplinary care and communicating with providers across clinical teams. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities, and to quickly assess complex problems to develop potential solutions. Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong critical thinking and clinical skills to identify and implement nursing interventions and evaluate results. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all patients and staff. Experience with or interest in providing individualized care to vulnerable populations. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS BSN. At least three (3) years of RN experience. Experience with other cancer specialties. Previous oncology care coordination experience.
