Position Summary The Staff Nurse I provides direct patient care and takes the initiative to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice, Relationship Based Care, and standards of nursing excellence into clinical practice. This position integrates professional practice model, current standards of practice and clinical experience to provide "quality" patient care as measured by established nursing quality standards and other governing/accrediting health care bodies. The Staff Nurse I engages and obtains information from patient and/or family to advocate for the patient, develops an appropriate patient educational plan, and responds to patient's changing needs while sharing information and collaborating with other members of the health care team to promote effective patient care. The Staff Nurse I participates in organizational, departmental, and shared leadership activities; supports department and unit goals in daily behavior. Duties & Responsibilities Develops, implements, and updates the patient’s plan of care based on on-going assessment of the patient and input from the patient’s family. Shares information and collaborates with other members of the health care team to promote effective patient care. Verifies and implements orders from physician, physician assistant and/or advance practice nurse by performing interventions as prescribed by the provider and documenting accurately in the electronic medical record. Engages and obtains information from patient and/or family to develop an appropriate patient educational plan. Recognizes symptoms, establishes priorities, and responds to patient’s changing needs. Engages support personnel by delegating appropriate tasks per the Illinois State Nurse Practice Act and provides support and feedback. Advocates for patients, families, and their significant others, the community, and the nursing profession. Integrates theoretical knowledge, evidence-based research, current standards of practice and clinical experience to provide “quality” patient care as measured by established nursing quality standards and other governing/accrediting health care bodies. Assumes role of Charge Nurse when assigned, utilizing appropriate resources and tools. Collaborates with other nurses to identify, promote, and provide positive learning experiences for staff and students. Serves as preceptor and/or resource to other nursing, support staff and students. Takes responsibility for continued professional growth/development by identification of learning needs and initiates strategies to meet such needs. Facilitating therapeutic, informational, or task-oriented groups specific to the discipline of a nurse. Other duties as assigned. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Summary The Ambulatory RN 2 identifies patterns of patient responses and can use past experiences to implement solutions for current situations. The Ambulatory RN 2 is a competent nurse who has mastered technical skills and utilizes evidence based interventions. The Ambulatory RN 2 continues to collaborate with other members of the health care team when the need for assistance is identified. Other Information Required Job Qualifications: Current license and credentials by the state they are assigned. At least one year of nursing experience required. Earned Nursing Degree at the Baccalaureate level or higher for those hired after January 1, 2014. All transfers to Rush University Medical Center or Rush University Medical Group from other Rush entities must have an earned nursing degree at the baccalaureate level or higher prior to the transfer. Chief Nursing Officer must provide approval for any RNs with ADN degree hired after 10/22/2020, based upon unit need. ADN RNs hired after 10/22/2020 must show continued enrolment towards a BSN degree with a signature of contract stipulating a BSN degree must be completed within 3 years of hire, Failure to do so will result in termination. ADN RNS are not eligible for leveling to RN3. Current CPR Certification. Analytical ability. Communication skills in order to lead and teach. Ability to interact effectively with others in difficult situations. The ability to check documents for errors, use a keyboard to enter or retrieve data, and closely examine specimens, images or reports. A specialty certification may be required for certain departments within 12 months of hire. Preferred Job Qualifications National Certification. Physical Demands Ability to walk throughout the Medical Center and to be standing or walking most of the designated shift. Ability to lifting or carrying objects 35-40lbs. and lifting and positioning patients, some of whom may exceed 300 lbs. Communicates current evidence-based strategies, standards of care and protocols with peers. Participates in and contributes to system and clinic based quality initiatives, research, development of care protocols and evidence based activities that improve patient care and outcomes. Demonstrates accountability for implementing policies related to safe and effective administration of medications, the use of medical devices in the delivery of patient care and in the performance of patient procedures. Applies the teaching- learning process to meet the learning and self-management needs of patients and families. Assesses patient safety needs and implements appropriate strategies to minimize risk during clinical visits, telephone encounters and electronic communications. Recognizes changes in patient status and consistently responds effectively to optimize patient outcomes. Recognizes patterns and problems in a specific patient population that require evaluation. Demonstrates the ability to prioritize care for complex patients based on knowledge acquired from previous clinical experiences. Utilizes competent assessment skills to holistically evaluate the physical and psychosocial needs of patients and families throughout the care continuum. Critically analyzes patient cases and effectively adapts the plan of care. Establish regular communication patterns that facilitate the transition of care for patients and families across settings. Demonstrates accountability for own professional practice, including progress toward achievement of annual goals. Since 2021 we've grown to more than 200 credentialed providers serving patients in 49 states. Most longevity medicine is built for healthy 40-year-olds. Ours is built for older adults. The Longevity Program combines a comprehensive geriatric assessment with chronic disease management, cognitive health, medication review and weight management, organized around five pillars of healthy aging: sleep, nutrition, movement, mental health and social connection. It works alongside a patient's existing care and never replaces their primary care provider. The role This is an in-person contract role. We're looking for nurse practitioners in the Chicago suburbs (Joliet-Palatine) area to lead longevity days at our partner senior living communities. Each day opens with a short educational talk for residents on healthy aging, using a presentation and speaker notes we provide. You then see the residents who sign up for one-on-one longevity visits. You'll be trained and supported by our Chief Medical Officer, a board-certified geriatrician who designed the program's clinical content. Your first site day is run alongside a member of our team. Schedule Site days are on weekdays. The presentation is the fixed part of the day. The rest depends on how many residents sign up. Expect roughly 4 to 8 hours per site day, a few times a month to start, with hours growing as bookings grow. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday. Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present. Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions. Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines. Overview Department: Emergency Unit Schedule: Full-Time, Evening 12-Hour Shift/ Rotating Weekends Hospital: St. Mary of Nazareth Location: Chicago, IL 60622 Responsibilities The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her patients in the Emergency Department. They communicate with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
