The Medical Assistant Position Responsibilities Include Room patients and complete vital signs and other pertinent physical measurements. Administer medication and clinical procedures according to authorized policy and documented according to HealthPartners policy. This may include DISCUS or AIMS assessment. Review charts for the presence of pertinent information relevant to the patients appointment. This may include Prepared Practice work as developed by the team. Provide and document any needed and requested health educational materials to the patient. Handle patient and their records in a private and confidential manner per HealthPartners policy. Seek medical and/or nursing assistance when encountering an acutely ill patient or a patient with a changing condition. Prepare exam rooms and treatment rooms and set up for procedures. Assist provider as needed. Prepare the patient for medical interventions. Prepare charts and records for appointments as indicated by the type of clinic visit according to established practices. Check MSRs for completion and route appropriately. Prepare lab, x-ray and miscellaneous forms as requested Process drug refills according to clinic protocols Monitor station logs as assigned. Facilitate timely and accurate flow of communication within the clinic/location. Accurately receive and relay messages and test results to the appropriate person/location in a manner consistent with clinic practices and/or standards. Gather all necessary and appropriate information from a caller and relay information to the appropriate provider for necessary follow-up. Inform reception desk of provider’s schedule status and assist in coordination of urgent and non-urgent provider schedule changes to ensure patient and provider needs are met. Perform patient correspondence when requested and assist patients in completing forms when appropriate. Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment according to procedure and OSHA standards. Complete scheduled cleaning requirements for designated work areas. Document completion of work to comply with infection control and OSHA standards Implement other infection control procedures as needed and adhere to protective clothing requirements. Ensure clinic supplies are adequately stocked and well organized. Process and deliver department inventory requests in a timely manner. Routinely check expiration dates and remove or replace outdated supplies. Maintain prescription sample supply cabinet as per clinic protocol Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and adequate records are kept. Ensure inventory of instruments and equipment is current. Ensure instruments and equipment are calibrated as needed and maintained in proper working order. Located in Burnsville, just 20 minutes south of Minneapolis, MN, near the 35 E and 35 W conjunctions. This position is a .9 FTE, working 72 hours per 2 week pay period. This position works 12-hour shifts, every third weekend rotation (Fri,Sat,Sun), and on the night shift (7pm-7:30am). The Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting the professional nurse/caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and the reordering and stocking of supplies. The Nursing Assistant does not work autonomously but works under the direction of a professional nurse. The Nursing Assistant may be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the manager/charge nurse.
