The Citadel of Northbrook is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join their team! The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) helps patients/residents with comprehensive and personalized health care needs under the supervision of a nurse. The CNA assists patients/residents with activities of daily living to include bathing, dressing, eating, grooming, toileting and exercising. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Director of Nursing or CNA Supervisor, the CNAs work closely with the nursing staff to ensure coordination of patient care. Provides physical support for patients/resident’s daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, grooming, transferring to/from bed, toileting, walking, standing, or exercising. Assists patients with daily medication and supplements. Ensures proper resident/patient diet based on their dietary restrictions. Examines patients for open wounds, bruises, or blood in urine. Notes and communicates patient/resident behavior and changes in mood. Cleans rooms and bed linens. Checks and records vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Answers to patient calls and needs. All other duties, as assigned. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Qualifications and Skills: Good collaboration and teamwork skills with the nursing staff. Familiarity with symptoms and signs of improvement for a number of medical conditions. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED. State Certified Nursing Assistant License/Certification. Must be CPR Certified. Physical Requirements: Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells and temperatures, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required. Must be able to push, pull move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet. Provides direct and indirect advanced levels of patient care for medical emergencies under the direct or indirect supervision of a Physician. Functions as a member of the Mobile Stroke Unit Critical Care transport team and is responsible for the care of critically ill or injured patients with special focus on the stroke patient Responsibilities: Provide advanced critical care to critically ill or injured patients in adherence with established protocols and standards of care Demonstrates reasonable judgment when necessary to provide patient care in any environment; using resources that are required or made available Documents appropriate assessment, interventions, and other pertinent patient information in a timely manner Collects and promptly documents demographic, medical necessity, and other necessary billing information Demonstrates a patient-centered focus in a high stress environment at all times along. Practices within policies and procedures of infection prevention by demonstrating hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile and aseptic procedures, proper disposal of contaminated materials and utilizing proper attire when in direct contact with patients in isolation.
