Applies warm and cold compresses, consistent with facility procedure; performs irrigations, consistent with Facility procedure; performs other procedures related to skin care, as necessary; administers medications correctly and safely; correctly identifies medication in terms of action, dosage, side effects, and implications for the patient; meets standard on medication administration examination; demonstrates preparation of local solutions. Demonstrates a competent level of approved skilled nursing care tasks and procedures using approved technical skills related to vital signs, pulse oximetry, venipuncture, starting standard peripheral IVs only (not midlines or long peripheral lines), urinary catheter insertion/catheter care; and simple dressings, remove/discontinue a peripheral line. 5. Administer IV fluids, provided completion of annual competency IV therapy training. 6. Monitors patients receiving blood and blood products and TPN under the direction of the RN, who administers the transfusion. 7. Makes recommendations in the application of the nursing process. 8. Participates in planning, and administers direct patient care, including activities of daily living (ADL). 9. Performs point of care testing including blood glucose. 10. Performs nursing procedures as defined in the nursing procedure manual. 11. Administers medication as defined in nursing policy. What You'll Be Doing The Registered Nurse (RN) Provides professional nursing cae within the Emergency Department to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Coordinates care planning with other disciplines. Provies direct and indirect patient care in the emergency care setting. Provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility and responsibility indicative of professional expectation with a minimum of supervision. The ability to triage safely, rapidly and accurately, every patient that enters the ED. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the department. Communicate with the physicians about changes in patient's status, symptomatology and results of diagnostic studies. The ability to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Demonstrate the ability to use equipment specific to the Emergency Department. What We're Looking For Associate Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred Current Registered Nurse New Jersey State license. BLS, ACLS and PALS and/or, ENPC within 1 year of hire. Special Note For assignments in Post-Acute Care ONLY, individuals meeting the following criteria may also be considered for appointment: Graduation from a nursing education program registered by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) as licensure qualifying for Registered Professional Nurse (RN) and has applied for licensure as an RN. These unlicensed individuals may be employed to practice under the immediate and personal supervision of a NYS licensed, currently registered, RN for up to 90 days immediately following graduation pending receipt of a limited permit, which selected candidates must apply for and receive within the same 90-day period. Once a limited permit is received, individuals can practice nursing, under the immediate and personal supervision of a NYS licensed, currently registered, RN at a NYC Health + Hospitals health care setting for up to one (1) year from the date of issuance of the limited permit.
