Job Overview Fairview is looking for a Nursing Assistant at the M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN! This position is 56 hours per two weeks on the Day shift, for 8 hour shifts, and every other weekend. About this Unit: The Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital is a fast-paced 30-bed surgical specialty unit focused on delivering patient-centered care through strong multidisciplinary collaboration. The team manages a diverse mix of complex surgical and medical patients, including those recovering from vascular, thoracic, and open-heart procedures, as well as cardiac and respiratory cases requiring advanced monitoring. With telemetry capabilities and a progressive training approach, this unit offers a supportive environment for both RNs and nursing support staff to grow their skills and thrive in high-acuity care. Job Responsibilities The Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting the professional nurse/caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and the reordering and stocking of supplies. The Nursing Assistant does not work autonomously but works under the direction of a professional nurse. The Nursing Assistant may be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the manager/charge nurse. Provides basic patient care by performing routine duties to include: Personal grooming, bathing, toileting, Feeding, Skin care needs (clean and sterile dressing changes), applying ointments/creams, Oral hygiene, Specimen collection/testing, Position/ambulating, Changing linens, Promptly answers call lights. Assists the nurse in monitoring patient condition. Accurately takes and records weights, input/output, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rates, respiration, oxygen saturation. Orients patient and their family to the environment. Assures the patient’s belongings are accounted for, documented upon admission, transfer and discharge.
