Organization: Clinical Administration Job Summary: The Vanderbilt Health Executive Search Team is conducting a national search for an Administrative Director of Nursing – Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital. The Administrative Director of Nursing – Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital will report to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). The Administrative Director of Nursing provides operational and administrative leadership across nursing services to support the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. This role serves as a key partner to nursing leadership by promoting operational reliability, workforce effectiveness, regulatory readiness, and nursing excellence initiatives. The Administrative Director Nursing collaborates with leaders across the organization to optimize staffing resources, standardize operational processes, advance quality outcomes, support professional practice, and facilitate the successful implementation of strategic nursing priorities. . Shift: First Shift; Days Role Accountabilities: 1) Daily Nursing Operations Oversee daily nursing workflows, staffing, and resource utilization. Remove operational barriers impacting patient care. Support nursing leaders with real-time operational decisions. Ensure consistent compliance with nursing standards and regulatory requirements. 2) Administrative Coordinators (AC)/ House Supervisors (After-Hours Operations) Direct oversight of hospital-wide operations after hours. Standardize decision-making and escalation processes. Develop and mentor the AC/house supervisor team. Ensure consistent staffing and operational responsiveness across all shifts. 3) Float Pool Management Optimize staffing deployment and productivity. Reduce agency/traveler use when feasible. Improve operational flexibility across departments. 4) Dialysis Operational Oversight Coordinate workflows with contracted dialysis provider. Monitor quality, safety, and communication issues. Lead rounding, compliance checks, and issue resolution. Support regulatory readiness and performance improvement. 5) Pathway to Excellence Lead Coordinate document submission and timelines. Engage frontline nurses and councils; support Shared Governance. Ensure unit work is captured and sustained post-designation. Prepare the organization for the validation survey. 6) Nursing Innovation / Equipment / Technology Integration Lead nursing input for clinical equipment and supply evaluation. Coordinate implementation and workflow integration. Partner with supply chain/IT/biomed to standardize and optimize tools. Track outcomes and staff feedback to ensure benefits are achieved. 7) Nursing staff recognition Facilitates and manages the administrative aspects of these programs in collaboration with nursing leadership. 8) Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Master’s Degree and 5 years of experience; RN required. Preferred Qualifications: MSN preferred. Demonstrated experience with Magnet designation, Pathway to Excellence, or similar nursing excellence programs strongly preferred. Knowledge of ANCC Magnet standards and application processes; expert-level writing ability is strongly preferred. 5+ years of ICU or ER experience preferred. 3 to 5 years of director-level nursing experience is preferred.
