ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assistant Director Of Nursing (ADON) *$10,000 Sign On Bonus!* Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing department, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility. Participate in developing, planning, conducting, and scheduling in-service training that provide instructions on “how to do the job” and ensure a well-educated nursing department. (OSHA, HIPAA, Abuse Prevention, Infection Control, etc.) Assist the Safety Officer in developing safety standards for the nursing department. Assist the Director of Nursing in identifying, evaluating, and classifying routine and job-related functions to ensure that tasks in which there is potential exposure to blood/body fluids are properly identified and recorded. Ensure that nursing personnel work areas (nurse’s station, medication rooms, etc.) are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner. Ensure all resident care rooms, treatment areas, etc., are maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner. Ensure that all nursing personnel participate in and conduct all fire safety and disaster preparedness drill in a safe and professional manner. Ensure that an adequate stock level of medications, medical supplies, equipment, etc., is maintained on premises at all times to adequately meet the needs of the residents. Assist the Maintenance Director in developing a preventive maintenance program for maintaining the nursing department’s equipment and supplies in a safe and operable manner. Ensure that only trained and authorized personnel operate the department’s equipment in a safe manner. Participate in the development of written preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the nursing needs of each resident. Assist the MDS/CPC in planning, scheduling, and revising the MDS, including the implementation of RAPs and Triggers. Encourage the resident and his/her family to participate in the development and review of the resident’s plan of care. Be sure that staff members are providing care that reflects the wishes of the resident. Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information. Ensure all nursing personnel are knowledgeable of the residents’ responsibilities and rights include the right to refuse treatment. Performs other duties as assigned. Join UChicago Medicine , as a Physician Assistant within the Cardiac Surgery department. We offer advanced surgical solutions to treat atrial fibrillation, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valve disease and many other heart conditions. From reconstructing failing hearts to performing robotic and minimally invasive cardiac surgery, our surgeons are helping patients with heart disease return to active, full lives. At the core of our heart surgery program is a team of internationally known cardiac surgeons who are leaders in the field and are often among the first to perform groundbreaking procedures. The University of Chicago Cardiac Surgery department is a robust program for heart transplantation, mechanical circulatory support including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), durable Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD), bloodless surgeries and other high-risk cases. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area. As an Advanced Practice Provider , you will be responsible for comprehensive direct patient care management and OR surgical assist. In this role, the APP will manage a caseload of patients and exercise autonomous decision making in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of delegated medical treatments. Attend and participate in continuing education programs. Recommend to the Director of Nursing the equipment and supply needs of the department. Place orders for medications and treatments as necessary following established budgetary guidelines. Utilize PCC 24-hour summary concerning recommendations/concerns related to customer care needs. Fill out complete accident/incident reports. Encourage attending physicians to review treatment plans, record and sign their orders, progress notes, etc., in accordance with established policies. Chart nurses’ notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided to the customer, as well as the customer’s response to the care. Complete required assessments upon the customer’s admission, transfer, and/or discharge. Receive telephone orders from physicians and record on the Physicians’ Order Form and P.O.S. Record new/changed diet orders. Forward information to the Dietary Department. Perform routine charting duties as required and in accordance with our established Charting and Documentation Policies and Procedures. Responsible for completion of admission, discharge, and transfer processes. Prepare and administer medications and treatments if appropriate as ordered by the physician. Review medication record for completeness of information, accuracy in the transcription of the physician’s order, and adherence to stop order policies. Administer professional services such as: catheterization, tube feedings, suction, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy, and drainage bags, care of the dead/dying, etc., as required. Participate in the orientation of new customers/family members to the facility. Arrange for diagnostic and therapeutic services, as ordered by the physician. Notify the customer’s attending physician and family when there is a change in the customer’s conditions. Obtain sputum, urine and other lab tests as ordered. Take and record TPR’s, blood pressures, accuchecks, etc., as necessary. Contact the customer’s physician for: Nursing assessment of change of condition. Medication orders or charges. To inform of incidents. To report abnormal results of Lab and X-ray. Anything else pertinent to the customers’ care and well-being. Ensure the nurses’ notes and monthly summaries reflect the care plan and is being followed. Attend staff meetings, etc., as directed. Perform other related duties as assigned.
