REQUIREMENTS: 1. Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing 2. Possesses a valid and current RN/LVN license 3. 1-2 years experience in long term care preferred 4. Possesses effective written and verbal communication skills 5. Good physical and mental health 6. Is capable of following oral and written instructions 7. Has training, knowledge and experience which allows for general supervision of responsibilities REPORTING: The Assistant Director of Nursing reports to the Director of Nursing Services. JOB DUTIES: 1. Supervises licensed staff. 2. Participates as an Interdisciplinary Team member as directed by the Director of Nursing Services. 3. Periodically reviews residents’ records and reports. 4. Reviews physician orders, transfers and admission information for completeness. 5. Serves as a role model for nursing staff. 6. Promotes a positive, calm and effective work environment. 7. Enforces Policy and Procedure with the advice and consent of the Director of Nursing Services. 8. Monitors for noncompliance trends and makes recommendations. 9. Conducts the interview process and hires licensed nurses with the advice and consent of the Director of Nursing Services. 10. Assist in training all newly hired licensed nurses and provides ongoing training to all licensed nurses including conducting inservices. 11. Conducts verbal and written counseling with the licensed staff and completes the termination process of staff with the advice and consent of the Director of Nursing Services. 12. Evaluates licensed nurses for efficiency and productivity and recommends wage increases to the Director of Nursing Services. 13. Investigates employee complaints and makes recommendations to the Director of Nursing Services. 14. Makes recommendations on the various merchandise, materials and supplies needed for the functioning of the Nursing Department. 15. Monitors for employee safety and makes recommendations accordingly. 16. Represents the facility at functions such as health fairs, colleges, ect. 17. Coordinates collection of time and attendance records. 18. Provides direct patient care as needed and as directed by the Director of Nursing Services 19. Serves on committees as assigned by the Director of Nursing Services. 20. Any other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing Services or Administrator.

Assess each patient, complete plan of care, formulates a nursing diagnosis based upon assessment findings. Document patient behavior, condition, and care in an accurate, timely and legible manner on all assigned patients, including in RN progress notes and pertinent graphics every shift. Provide shift report using concise, meaningful language with all pertinent information, including patient name, diagnosis, physician, precautions, and levels of supervision, legal status, and discharge status, if known. Follow safety procedures. Utilize appropriate observation level for patient: Q15 minute checks, 1:1 monitoring, and/or specific precautions. Provide nursing care, within the scope of practice, to meet the unique needs of each patient. Actively attend and encourage participation of patients in milieu activities. Anticipate emergent situations; intervene early and appropriately Intervene in managing complex patient care situations, utilizing departmental policies and procedures that promote the most therapeutic alternatives.
