As the region’s only adult Level 1 trauma center, the SICU is always ready to receive any critical trauma patient requiring resuscitation and specialized nursing care. We have a variety of solid organ transplant recipients, including liver, kidney-pancreas, and kidney transplants. We care for complex oncologic, hepatobiliary, and general surgery patients who are referred from across the country. The majority of our patient population is in critical condition, with most patients generally stabilizing within 24-48 hours following admission.
