These responsibilities also include patient/family/significant other education and health maintenance strategies. The RN is a member of a designated health care team and collaborates, coordinates and guides team members in planning patient care and achieving goals. Performs chemo, therapeutic treatments and therapeutic phlebotomies. Performs conscious sedation and other procedures specific to specialty practices. Administer blood and blood products, specific to specialty areas. Administer oral/IM/IV/SQ/Inhaled medications Responsible for all unit enabling clinical operations including patient flow, assignment, ordering and medical record preparations. Triage all sick and walk-in patients. Responsible for telephone communication, telephone triage, communicate test results in collaboration with provider including appropriate follow-up. Accesses and maintains central lines/ports for blood drawing and medication administration. Provides and initiates respiratory interventions according to standards. Coordinates delegates and/or provides all other patient care activities. Initiates CPR Coordinates in-patient admissions and ER referrals. Identifies learning family/patient needs, including level of comprehension. Informs about treatments, tests, preps, OR procedures. Instructs on home and self-care. Evaluates client outcomes through return demonstration and/or verbalization of understanding. Maintains an environment that is conducive to meeting patient care needs and that facilitates patient flow. Promotes and provides for patient safety in accordance with state and federal guidelines. Practices and monitors infection control. Maintains a clean, quiet, organized patient care environment Demonstrates a professional, courteous, and respectful attitude in dealing with patients families and significant others. May be required to perform other duties as assigned or perform other duties when necessary. Qualifications Requirements: Bachelors of Science in Nursing Degree preferred, Current NY State Registered Nurse License and registration certificate required Minimum 2 years Medical Oncology Nursing Experience Required Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Active Chemotherapy - Biotherapy Provider Card required Certification in area of specialty is highly recommended, BLS and ACLS required (American Heart Association) Ability to lift and move heavy objects/patients. Responsibilities We are actively hiring for an Registered Nurse (RN) PreOp PACU. Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA . Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status at intervals according to facility or health care organization policies and procedures to include the patient’s cardiovascular system, respiratory system and airway management needs, neurological system, hemodynamic stability, pain and comfort needs, and mental status. Interpret information accurately from various noninvasive and invasive monitors. Describe the underlying pathophysiology of commonly encountered disease processes. Describe the physiology associated with various anesthesia techniques and surgical or procedural interventions. Apply the relevant scoring system/discharge criteria for patient transfer ( e.g. , Aldrete Score, Modified Aldrete Score [ i.e. , PARSAP], Post Anesthesia Discharge Scoring System [PADSS], White) score accurately as defined by organizational policy. Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care. Implement the plan of care including the following interventions: Preparing for and managing patient recovery from anesthesia – general. Preparing for and managing patient recovery from anesthesia – monitored anesthesia care. Preparing for and managing patient recovery from anesthesia – regional. Preparing for and managing patient recovery from anesthesia – local. Preparing for and protecting patient from injury caused by positioning, thermal sources, and extraneous objects. C ommunicating the patient’s current status throughout the perianesthesia continuum of care. P roviding acute pain and comfort management as needed. A dministering medications safely and correctly by using the 8 -rights of safe medication administration. P erforming interventions to maintain the integrity of the patient’s wound and tissue perfusion at or above baseline levels .
