Position Summary: Provides high quality nursing care for assigned patients in a scientific and humanistic focus. The Newly Licensed Registered Nurse (NLRN) utilizes a holistic systems approach to protect and promote client wellness and safety in the physiological, psychological, social cultural, developmental and spiritual domains. Nursing interventions are interdisciplinary, age specific and are directed toward optimal wellness. The NLRN is a nurse who is in their first year of nursing practice. This role ends on the one‐year anniversary of their hire date. At this time, the NLRN transitions to the role of Staff Registered Nurse. The NLRN may occupy a Staff Registered Nurse position after the matching process, but is still considered an NLRN for the first year of practice. NLRNs are not allowed to cover the unit for lunches or breaks or be a shift/charge nurse until they have completed the orientation period.
