This paid opportunity pairs externs with experienced RN preceptors across two nursing units in 4-week rotations, allowing students to apply their skills in real patient care settings. Weekly Educational Extern Conferences support professional development, and an optional winter clinical rotation is offered for those interested in additional clinical growth during their school break. Qualifications: CPR Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support, required within 30 days of hire. AHA Heart Saver courses for CPR are not accepted. Current nursing student enrolled in an ASN or BSN program. Job Description The PICU is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team in Wilmington, DE. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of Nemours Children's Health, Delaware is a 24-bed unit in a Level 1 Trauma Center. Patients requiring care and surveillance in the PICU will have conditions and diagnoses which may include, but are not limited to, those producing: acute and reversible loss of consciousness, respiratory failure, compromised air exchange, cardiovascular dysfunction, hepatic failure, hemodynamic instability, renal dysfunction, central nervous system injury or dysfunction, acute trauma and organ failure requiring transplantation. Treatments or interventions performed in the PICU include measures utilizing advanced life support technology. These include, but are not limited to cardiopulmonary resuscitation, tracheal intubation, ECMO, pharmacologic support of circulation, mechanical ventilation, point of care monitoring, CRRT, thoracentesis, and hemodynamic, intracranial pressure, intravascular monitoring. Each patient room has electrocardiographic, pulse oximetry, respiratory, hemodynamic and intracranial pressure monitoring capability, as well as central EKG and respiratory monitoring. Portable monitoring during patient transport is provided. Special equipment includes radiant warmer beds, heating/cooling blanket systems, Mapleson manual ventilation system, end tidal CO2 monitors, ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring systems, intracranial pressure monitoring system, ventriculostomy systems, infusion pumps, blood warmer, continuous renal replacement systems, and peripheral nerve stimulators. Requirements Be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Experienced pediatric intensive care nurse of at least 2 years preferred. Job Description Nemours is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Wilmington, DE. 3 West is a 24-bed medical surgical unit for patients 0-21 years of age. This unit is designated for orthopedic patients, patients in need of comprehensive rehabilitation and acute rehabilitation of both traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury, ventilator-dependent patients, and patients with tracheotomies. Additional patient populations include neurosurgical and nonsurgical neurology, and infants transitioning from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Neurology and neurosurgical patients are also cared for on 3 West. This unit was designed to provide single patient care rooms to allow for privacy and family presence during the hospital stay. Position is full-time, rotating shifts, 60 hrs in 2 wks, 12-hr shifts, 2/6 weekends, every other holiday. The primary role of the Registered Nurse is to implement the patient care delivery model for the patient and their family. Additionally the registered nurse is responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, providing and evaluating, the care provided to assigned patients. Lancaster General Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our team! Each day our Emergency Department treats 300 to 400 patients with chronic and acute issues, ruling out life threatening conditions and intervening when necessary to stop the progression of acute processes. The team sees everything from sore throats, ear infections, lacerations and broken bones to more serious conditions like stroke, heart attack, cardiac arrest, and traumatic injuries from motor vehicle and farming accidents, gunshot wounds and stabbings. Lancaster General Hospital, a Level I-accredited Trauma Center, recently completed a major expansion and remodel of the ED that nearly doubled the size of the department, from 63 beds to 95 beds. This includes 10 beds in our updated and expanded behavioral health unit, and 13 dedicated pediatric beds. Summary: Assume responsibility and accountability as defined by the American Nurses Association standards of nursing practice. The Clinical Nurse 1 New to Practice Apprentice is a newly licensed new to practice RN or RN with less than 15 months of experience that demonstrates basic safe practice within the organizational professional practice model. The Clinical Nurse 1 New to Practice Apprentice seeks guidance to integrate concepts, knowledge, skills and attitudes to meet standards for competent professional nursing practice. The Clinical Nurse 1 New to Practice Apprentice exhibits Penn Medicine’s experience standards which reflect its mission and are embedded in the professional practice competency domains. The Clinical Nurse 1 New to Practice Apprentice is accountable for the provision of direct care to patients who may range in age from infancy to the elderly and demonstrates within the competency domains of Continuous Quality Improvement, Evidence Based Practice and Research, Leadership, Person and Family Centered Care, Professionalism, Safety, Teamwork and Technology Informatics. The Clinical Nurse 1 New to Practice Apprentice works closely with the interprofessional health care team to facilitate the coordination of care across the continuum. The nurse focuses on developing the knowledge and skills necessary to provide individualized care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, safety, and age-appropriate considerations of assigned patients. The Clinical Nurse 1 New to Practice Apprentice requires consultation with more experienced clinicians and benefits from feedback while demonstrating growth in the ability to care for increasingly complex patients. The nurse demonstrates how nursing practice impacts the organizational vision, mission, and goals and the care delivery system. The nurse complies with all regulations and standards of regulatory and accrediting bodies. The Clinical Nurse 1 New to Practice Apprentice must complete all Clinical Nurse 1 competencies and is expected to advance to the Clinical Nurse 2 Colleague level by 18 months of professional practice. Performs patient assessments, focusing on physiologic, psychological, and cognitive functions. Collects and manages comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or the situation. Analyzes the assessment data to determine the diagnosis or issues. Formulates age-appropriate and culturally and ethically sensitive plan of care Implements care in a knowledgeable manner and coordinates patient care across several disciplines and among caregivers. Provides leadership to other members of the team by effectively communicating expected standards of care and encouraging and supporting team members and their contributions. Demonstrates an understanding of and a commitment to our values of privacy, quality, respect, service and teamwork. Assigns, delegates, and supervises other employees and intervenes as appropriate to assure that the plan of care is carried out, continuity of care is provided and that established outcomes are achieved through availability and appropriated utilization of human, material and financial resources. Educates patients about healthy practices and treatment modalities. Systematically enhances the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices. Utilizes technology where appropriate. Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost and impact on practice in the planning and delivery of nursing services. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Required Qualifications: RN licensure is required, issued by the PA Board of Nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing BSN or higher level nursing degree is required within 3 years of RN hire date. New hires who start their employment with a temporary practice permit must sit for their NCLEX within 60 days of starting in their RN role. A graduate registered nurse may only practice professional nursing under supervision and if the graduate registered nurse holds a current temporary practice permit. Supervision means that a licensed registered nurse is physically present in the area or unit where the graduate registered nurse is practicing. All Clinical Nurse 1 RN’s will be required to successfully complete the Nurse Residency Program. CPR Certification - American Heart Association AHA Basic Life Support, formerly Healthcare Provider AHA Heart Saver courses for CPR are not accepted required within 30 days of hire.
