Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and function as charge nurse when assigned. Overview Upon consultation, the Wound and Ostomy Specialist assesses, plans implements and evaluates wound and ostomy care on inpatients throughout the hospital. Provides direct patient care and education to selected patients. Serves as a resource and educator to the staff nurse and physician. Responsibilities Wound Assessment and Treatment: Conduct comprehensive assessment of wounds, including pressure injuries, surgical wounds, burns, diabetic ulcers, and other acute or chronic wounds Identify the type, severity and stage of wounds and document findings accurately in the electronic health record. Develop and implement individualized wound care plans based on evidence-based practice. Wound Care Management: Perform wound care and application of appropriate dressings or wound care products.
