Schedule: Full Time Pay Range: $36.78 - $73.57 / Hourly Shift: Variable Shifts Hours: 7:30-5pm About This Role Job Summary: Reports directly to unit manager but works collaboratively with the department of anesthesia, this role is expected to gather appropriate patient information, including but not limited to: tests, labs, consults, etc. They are to ensure these results are within acceptable range parameters and, if not, collaborate with the appropriate physicians to rectify the areas of concern so surgery is not cancelled. In conjunction with support staff, they are responsible to assemble the patient chart for the surgical procedure, ensuring completion of all ordered test, and to instruct the patient on fasting times, medications to be taken/held, and answer any questions the patient may have about the procedure/process. The attire will be business casual with a lab coat. Minimum Qualifications: Education Graduate of accredited school of nursing Experience Previous experience in surgical setting preferred Strong background in patient assessment skills Licensure and/or Certification Current MA RN license in good standing required BCLS required Skills Excellent customer service skills. Minimum Education Required High School Diploma/GED Shift First Shift Responsibilities Assist residents with all aspects of medical management including physicals, referrals, prescriptions, appointments and treatments. Provide emergency first aid in the case of a medical crisis. Coordinate with residents, family members, physicians, other medical providers, and site team regarding all medical care and changes in status, treatment or medication. Implement, oversee, document and supervise medication management in accordance with agency and funder regulations. Oversee direct care staff, under the direction of the Residential Program Nurse. Monitor and evaluate the continuity and level of care provided, devising ideas for quality improvement when needed. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, service planning meetings, resident and family meetings. Qualifications Massachusetts as a Licensed Practical Nurse and 1 year experience in a community healthcare setting. Strong oral and written communication skills with individuals, families, funding sources, consultants, the community at large, and the program and administrative staff. Excellent written and verbal communication. Must hold a valid driver's license, have access to an operational and insured vehicle and be willing to use it to transport clients. Strongly prefer a candidate that will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving diverse populations. Actively contribute to unit and hospital projects focused on improving patient care. What You Bring Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Current Massachusetts RN license. BLS certification required. ACLS certification required within 90 days of hire for experienced RNs; within 6 months for new grads. Medical/Surgical and ICU/CCU experience preferred. Strong clinical judgment, assessment, and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills. Comfort with computers and a commitment to patient confidentiality.
