Adjusts staffing to meet program based upon staffing matrix and acuity. 9. *Oversees and provides quality care to all patients and families. Makes appropriate referrals to the quality department, risk management, compliance and infection control. 10. * Provides for recruitment orientation, in-service training and continuing education for all staff. Assures that all float pool staff has received appropriate orientation to practice. 11. *Continually assess and improves department performance. Creates and supports a culture of safety and supports staff in adoption of all quality initiatives and evidence-based practice/research. 12. *Consistently holds others accountable for behaviors aligned with organizational values and policy. 13. Effectively uses coaching and management of performance skills to achieve high quality patient care. 14. Completes rounds on patients and staff to ensure patient satisfaction, staff needs are addressed and compliance with assignments, care delivery model, etc. 15. Engages self and others in shared governance process, 360 peer evaluations, Professional Management Plans (PMP’s) and Magnet Journey. 16. Job Summary and Qualifications The Endoscopy RN reports to the Director of Surgical Services, and works under the direct supervision of the departments Nurse Clinical Leader. He/she is responsible for providing direct care to patients undergoing procedures in Endoscopy . Examines the patient physical status for baseline data information. Reassesses patient status at designated time intervals. Communicates ongoing patient care needs to the discharge caregivers regarding discharge home care, prescriptions, follow up appointments, and anesthesia after care. Accepts primary nurse role for assigned patients. Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, families, staff and corrects hazards promptly. Job Summary and Qualifications The Cardiac Cath Lab RN reports to the Director Diagnostic Imaging, and works under the direct supervision of the department’s Clinical Coordinator. He/she is responsible for providing direct care to patients undergoing diagnostic, therapeutic, and interventional cardiac and vascular procedures within the Vascular department . He/she is knowledgeable in the science of radiology, the principles of ALARA, the physical effects of radiation on tissue, and the potential for genetic effects. This knowledge base informs the Cardiac Cath Lab RN’s practice as he/she incorporates safe techniques and protective measures aimed at minimizing the exposure to radiation by the patients and all personnel. Assists physicians in the performance of all cardiac and vascular procedures . He/she has an in-depth knowledge of cardiovascular disease and associated co-morbidities, and is trained and experienced in: handling emergent and life-threatening situations maintains BLS and ACLS certification and skills maintains IABP certification and skills proper operation of departmental equipment achieving and maintaining sterile technique achieving and maintaining hemostasis following procedures the uses and risks associated with the administration of contrast media. Provides direct care to patients – before, during and after procedures. Completes pre-procedural physical patient assessment. Reviews patient information, including H&P, lab work and other test results. Re-assesses and monitors patients based on their individual clinical needs. Initiates appropriate steps to provide optimal patient experience . Administers IV fluids and blood products as ordered and per hospital policy . He/she evaluates the extent and urgency of equipment malfunction incidents, makes recommendations for appropriate action to the Director of Cardiovascular Services and arranges for service as indicated . Participates in the departments on-call schedule in order to provide off-hours urgent and emergent services as outlined by departmental policy . Collaborate with all health care providers and interdisciplinary team serving as the primary coordinator to facilitate and coordinate efficient, effective, and quality healthcare. Communicate patient progress towards the outcome attainment and assist providers and team during treatment/examination of patient and process orders. 9. Makes appropriate and timely notification to providers on patient condition changes and carries out provider orders. 10. Monitors, records, and communicates effectively patient condition as appropriate, utilizing computerized documentation systems to maintain therapeutic relationships with patients, families, and physicians. 11. Assesses and coordinates patient’s discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team. Instructs and educates patients and families providing age and culturally appropriate care. 12. Functions as an effective team member and/or charge RN when needed, orients and mentors new staff members 13. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. 14. Maintains competencies in clinical areas and is responsible for professional growth and development. 15.
