Number of Unit beds: 24 Patient Ratios: TELE 1:4 + PCU 1:3 + ICU 1:2 + CVICU 1:1 Experience: 2 years or more of RN ICU. Vent Management, Drip, Device experience is a plus. JOB SUMMARY The Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional who uses the BSWH nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery by the health care team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient, identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, and evaluates the patient's response. The RN promotes safe passage for their patients by using knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to assist patients to transition through the healthcare encounter without any preventable complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions to health care personnel based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act, each patient's condition and the competencies of the employee. RN job is to be used for RNs in hospital inpatient and outpatient departments with 24X7 staffing which include those departments with on-call staffing on the off shifts. Examples of hospital inpatient and outpatient procedural areas: GI Lab, Pain Management, Dialysis, Infusion Centers and IV Services. Job Summary The Research Nurse 2 helps various Principal Investigators (PIs) conduct clinical trials under delegated authority. This work follows federal, state, and institutional guidelines. Responsibilities cover all trial phases, from pre-study setup to study closure. Essential Functions of the Role Reviews new protocols and materials from Study Sponsors. Provides input to the PI and manager about clinical and research issues. Helps establish financial and clinical feasibility. Coordinate the implementation of protocols for assigned research projects with departments across the organization. Interact with PIs and clinical managers or supervisors. Provide in-service education for healthcare professionals. Work with Pharmacy to ensure smooth project flow. Screens patients for eligibility in assigned clinical trials in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards. Coordinates research subject's informed consent and entry into research studies. Ensures all inclusion and exclusion criteria are met. Helps ensure all study documents are complete. Retains records according to federal, state, and institutional standards. Assists with preparing Institutional Review Board final reports. Participates in data analysis, writing and submitting manuscripts, and abstracts for publication, as appropriate. Develops, implements, and administers clinical research policies and procedures. Conducts audits of research studies to check the accuracy, integrity, and consistency of research studies. Key Success Factors Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Ability to manage time-sensitive projects in order to meet deadlines. Exceptional ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Exceptional leadership skills to mentor research nurses. Exceptional written and oral communication skills. Exceptional computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.
