Working with a dedicated team, the RN provides evidence-based, high quality care to mothers and newborns, with couplet care, and newborn nursery care supported. The nurse graduate may administer medications under the DIRECT supervision of an RN. The nurse graduate may NOT administer medications independently. Performs CPR as needed. Follows institutional infection control guidelines. Follows/implements established institutional/unit policies and procedures to ensure patient safety. Communicates effectively with patients, families, visitors and other members of the health care team, demonstrating positive guest relations skills and treating patient information confidentially. Performs general support services for the unit and patient which may include running unit errands, procuring equipment, and taking and relaying messages accurately and timely. Work Experience Minimum Education, Experience, And License/Certification Required Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice due to Compact state agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing, is required. If graduate is completing the initial examination, testing must be completed within 90 days of the date that the graduate completed the school nursing program. Must meet all applicable federal, state, and local professional requirements Current AHA BLS certification required. Less than 12 months nursing experience. Basic Computer Skills Are Required. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
