WORK SCHEDULE 90% FTE Day shift Department Description The Harborview Medical Center - Transitional Care Unit (TCU) was created as a more efficient way in which to care for our medically stable patients awaiting placement. Our unit was designed to offload an acute care bed and assist our patient population in overcoming their discharge barriers. The staffing model in this unit reflects the needs of long-term patients and utilizes different ratios than our standard acute care units. Primary Job Responsibilities Performs specific leadership functions related to clinical practice, education, and/or management as delegated by and in collaboration with the Nurse Manager. Assumes staff assignments and preceptor responsibility. Provides leadership for unit and departmental activities that promote delivery of quality nursing care, effective problem solving and communication, and continued professional development for self and others. Requirements Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN); applicable experience may substitute for education. Charge nurse experience, preceptor experience and/or leadership experience. Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Washington National nursing specialty certification desirable. Job Description Harborview Medical Center APP - Inpatient General Surgery (ARNP; Nurse Practitioner; or PA-C, Physician Assistant). This opening is for full time, 100% FTE, day shift, with weekend and holidays, no call. Potential for 2-3 nights/month. The APP provides clinical expertise to patients and their families, is a resource person for health care providers, and participates in research and teaching programs. Work is performed in the Inpatient Care Units and Emergency Department 7 days a week with general independence and decision-making responsibility under the general guidance of the attending physicians, chief resident and department lead APP. Registered Nurse - Cardiac Specialty Unit (0.9 FTE, Nights) The Cardiac Specialty Unit is intended to provide a bidirectional capability (step down and step up) for patients whose care needs are not optimally supported by either the CICU or acute care ward. The unit will be comprised of up to 6 Intermediate Care level patients initially, and the remaining 7 beds will hold cardiac surgical or pre transplant acute care status patients. As an integral member of the Health Care Team, the RN functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by the State, the ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice, and adheres to Seattle Children's policies/procedures and guidelines of care. Responsible for providing safe, family centered patient care. Using the Nursing Care Process, the RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in a collaborative method with the patient and patient's family, significant others, and members of the health care team. May be required to provide supervision and delegation of tasks to Nurse Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, Certified Nursing Assistants, and others as defined by the State Administrative Code.
