JOB DUTIES: The purpose of your job as a Licensed Practical Nurse is to perform a variety of care practices under the direction of the Registered Nurse and/or Supervisor of the unit/shift. This includes, but not limited to: Take and record measurements of blood pressure, temperature, heart rate etc. Observe residents under treatment to identify progress, side-effects of medications etc. Monitor residents’ condition including fluid intake and output and compose patient charts. Administer injections, prescribed medications, enemas etc., clean and dress wounds. Collect samples for lab testing as assigned. Provide emotional and psychological support when needed. Communicate with residents’ family or friends to provide advice, comfort, and release instructions. QUALIFICATIONS: Please do not apply if you cannot meet the shift requirements (5 days per week and must be able to arrive at 3pm) Nursing home or LTC experience required Currently licensed by the State of New York.. Possesses attention to detail and observation skills that enable the recognition of condition changes in the resident. Supervises ambulation of resident when needed. Proper attention is given that side rails are up on bed when needed. Completes dining room duty as posted by charge nurse. Is alert for spills on floor. Answers call bells as soon as possible. Makes rounds frequently. Reports need for repair and safety matters to charge nurse. Rehabilitation: Assists in ambulation, transfers, ROM exercises and good body alignment where indicated. Uses adaptive devices properly. Cooperates with all rehab disciplines. Keeps accountability sheets up to date with signatures as required. Has knowledge of proper procedure. Records results. Informs nurse of results. Assignments: Receives daily report from nurse.
