Conducts the initial screening of occupational medicine patients which involves audiometric testing, keystone machine eye testing, electrocardiogram testing, vital signs, height and weight, spyrometer testing, and preparation of reporting forms. 3. Summary The Vannie E. Cook Jr. Children's Cancer and Hematology Clinic located in McAllen, TX is recruiting a full-time Instructor- Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA). The clinic was created in 2001 through a joint effort of the Vannie Cook Foundation, Baylor College of Medicine, and Texas Children's Hospital to provide local pediatric Hematology /Oncology care to the under-served children of the Rio Grande Valley. The clinic is an extension of the Texas Children's Cancer and Hematology Center and is the region's first and only pediatric cancer and hematology treatment facility. Providing outpatient and inpatient care for Pediatric Hematology and Oncology patients at the Vannie Cook Clinic and several surrounding community hospitals. This position is considered 100% clinical. Outpatient duties include a full patient schedule, oversight of infusion room services, and managing calls from clinic staff, physicians, and families throughout the day. Inpatient care/on-call duties are covered as a member of a 4-team rotation. The inpatient/on-call rotation is 7 days and includes evening/weekend/holiday work. Inpatient care consists of daily rounds and work of the day, phone calls from hospital staff in the evening and coming in at night for acute needs as deemed necessary. In addition, the provider manages phone calls from parents via page operator on evening/ weekends/holidays. The provider will be credentialed at multiple local hospitals and will be traveling between hospitals as needed. Performing procedures (bone marrow, lumbar puncture) on patients as indicated in both the outpatient and inpatient setting. Completing orders, documentation and billing in a timely manner. Maintaining and completing all necessary regulatory requirements to remain compliant with COG and institutional research studies. Subspecialty backup and consultation exist via physicians at Texas Children's Hospital Main Campus. Job Description We are in search of a Registered Nurse for the PICU at Main Campus for DAYSHIFT . Someone who excels in fast-paced learning with dynamic flexibility in a critical care setting. This position encompasses direct nursing care to critically ill patients, while ensuring safety and comfort, within our family centered care model. Our PICU is divided into 4 cohorts for better patient outcomes. Collaboration activities include: • Coordinating all aspects of patient care from admission through discharge of the patient. • Addressing patient concerns, issues, and questions including the review of patient satisfaction surveys. • Developing and communicating efficient and timely patient schedules to ensure maximization of facility efficiency. • Assisting as needed with patient workflow. • Implementing and maintaining a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Process and Quality Assessment and Improvement Program (QAPI) Improvement Team that involves staff and pertinent physicians in problem solving activities meeting on a regular basis to address identified issues. • Continually review Center operations to ensure compliance with Federal and State laws. • Develops and maintains strong Medical Director and physician relationships, facilitating staff relationships with physicians, and ensuring regular and effective communication with all physicians including participating in regular meetings with Medical Directors. • Supports and drives FMS quality standards through meeting regulatory requirements and the practice of CQI, including the use of the appropriate company CQI tools. • Works with the Charge RN and Medical Director to implement FMS quality FKC goals and develop facility specific action plans to achieve FMS quality standards. • Oversees and monitors the provision of the appropriate training according to FMS policy to ensure ongoing compliance with all company and FMS risk management initiatives. • Collaborates with the Charge RN to ensure the aggressive treatment of, and actions taken, regarding adverse safety events and action thresholds. • Ensures all Quality policies and procedures are communicated to and implemented by the facility staff. • Maintains integrity of medical records and other FMS administrative and operational records. • Complies and assists with all data collection and auditing activities. • Manages the day-to-day activities and workload of the facility staff providing guidance and leadership as appropriate to ensure the effective, efficient and timely execution of duties and tasks. • Creates, maintains, and communicates efficient and timely employee schedules according to the staffing needs of the facility to ensure adequate staffing daily. Consults with Charge RN and Medical Director to optimize clinical staffing. • Provides informal feedback to staff on an ongoing basis and formal feedback in the form of the annual performance evaluation during the focal merit review process. Obtains feedback and input regarding the staff performance from the Medical Director and Charge RN and acts on the feedback as appropriate. Job Description We are searching for a Registered Nurse for our Surgical/Ortho/Trauma unit – someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. 11WT is a 36 bed surgical/orthopedic/trauma unit. The unit consists of 32 general admission beds and 4 designated trauma beds. 11WT receives a wide array of surgical patients from a variety of surgical services. General Surgery: appendectomies, hernia repairs, pectus repairs, tumor resections Orthopedic Surgery: spinal fusions, bone fractures, osteotomies Urology Surgery: ureteral re-implants, nephrectomies, bladder augmentations Plastic Surgery: cleft lip and/or palate repairs, rhinoplasties, brachial plexus repairs ENT Surgery: Tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, PE Tube placement, cochlear implants The 4 trauma beds are used for patients who have sustained a multisystem or severe injury from some sort of trauma. You may also see minor trauma patients throughout the unit. Some of the types of trauma that we see are motor vehicle accidents, auto-pedestrian accidents, ATV accidents, gunshot wounds, sports injuries, and child abuse. The nurses who care for these patients in the trauma rooms have received additional training on how to care and manage these types of patients. The trauma nurse is an expanded role that is offered on 11WT. The Clinical Nurse in the Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, a TX RN license, and at least one year of recent RN experience in a hospital ER/ED setting. Previous ER/ED experience is required, as this position includes cross-training in the ER and the expectation to float to the ER as operational needs arise. Candidates should be comfortable caring for a diverse patient population in a fast -paced environment and transitioning between the CDU and ER settings. The ideal candidate must be available to work either Day/Evening (7am - 7pm) or Evening/Night (7pm - 7am), Monday - Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays required. The Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) is an outpatient unit that provides observation services to patients that do not meet the admission criteria.
