Job Overview Located in Belleville, Clara Maass Medical Center is a facility of RWJBarnabas Health and provides a complete continuum of care to residents of northern New Jersey. With over 700 physicians and 2,100 employees, we offer advanced treatment for a wide variety of medical conditions. Maintenance of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BCLS) Graduate of an accredited nursing program, Masters degree highly preferred Successful completion of all Orientation Schedule Part - Time Days Essential Functions Assists Nursing Director with ensuring that quality nurse care is delivered to all patients and his/her units in accordance with the philosophy, policies, procedures and program plans of the hospital. Develops and sustains an environment that supports compassionate care, healthcare excellence and superior service. Assists with development of patient care standards and continuing education. Assists in performance evaluation of staff, and in scheduling and staffing to meet department needs. Assists in the direction, coordination and development of performance improvement, patient safety and patient experience outcomes. Assures the unit is always in a state of survey readiness and meets compliance with all environmental/equipment requirements. Insures the prompt placement of purchase orders and executes follow up to assure prompt delivery of materials and/or effective performance of services. Makes daily rounds to insure smooth functioning and throughput of patients on the unit and intervenes with all ancillary and support services to provide quality patient care. Job Responsibility Manages and leads team members, operations and patient care activities within a patient care unit during assigned shift. Collaborates with team members and nursing management in the development of methods, techniques and analytical approach to patient care. Communicates, builds consensus, and guides team members toward achieving department objectives. Promotes and maintains high quality patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Creates a professional work environment that encourages team member respect, engagement, accountability and optimal patient outcomes. Promotes appreciative inquiry and evidence-based, ethical and compassionate practice. Provides direction and guidance to patient care unit team members during assigned shift. May conduct performance reviews and provide input into hiring, promotions and corrective actions. Serves as a role model for standards of professional practice (clinical, educational and leadership). Educates team members in new and existing department procedures and systems (information systems, fiscal responsibility, etc.). Provides input on department budget allocations to nursing management. Ensures adherence to the established care delivery model, using knowledge of scope and standards of practice. Faciliates continual patient care unit compliance with the JC, CMS, New York State, DOH, Public Health Law, HIPPA regulations and System, hospital and department standards. Demonstrates core clinical competencies for patient population of oversight in order to supervise and provide direct patient care. Maintains current knowledge of scope and standards of practice, healthcare legislation, and population health. Interprets policies, procedures and technical methods for team members. Identifies opportunities and makes recommendations that improve patient care delivery and team effectiveness using evidence-based strategies and solutions. Performs related duties as required.
